Student answer (Band 5.5)
According to some people there is no need to kept animals in zoos which result in the clousre of zoos. I completely disagree with the provided notion because of certain reasons which will be explained in the upcoming paragraphs.
There are numerous reason why zoos should not be closed. To begin with, the prime one is that there are animals of some species which are at risk of extinction in order to protect those kinds of species we need to kept them in zoo to give them proper medication and good quality of food. For example an article was published in''The Times of India'' revealed that the Bengal Tiger was at risk of extinction because the number of tigers are reducing day by day. Another reason worth mentioning that endangered species should reproduce to increase in the population of that particular species. If they reproduce the number of there offsprings increase with the passage of time the species again gain therre population. For example the rhinos rfe very less in numbers so they should kept in zoo. Furthermore, they should be protected from bounty hunters they kill them for some amount of money so they should be protected from them for instance, rhino is killed for its horn so the population is decreasing of rhinos.
Some people, however, might argue that they should not kept in zoos because animals also have freedom so they need to enoy it and animal live longer in their naturqal habitat
In conclusion, although i understand why some people are in favor of animal should not be kept in zoos. I firmly belevie that they should be in zoos to atay healthy or to stay in good anumber of populationb

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a clear position of complete disagreement, but the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. While the writer mentions reasons such as protecting endangered species and breeding them, these points lack sufficient extension and rely on repetitive examples. For instance, the mention of the Bengal Tiger and rhinos is introduced briefly without deeper exploration of how captive breeding specifically impacts global conservation efforts. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend their main points with more elaborate explanations and thoroughly support their arguments throughout the essay rather than superficially touching upon them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the mechanical transitions used to start sentences like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the third body paragraph consists of only a single, abrupt sentence that lacks proper development. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow smoothly. To improve in this area, the writer should ensure that cohesive devices are used more naturally and that every paragraph contains a well-structured sequence of sentences supporting a single central topic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that may cause some difficulty for the reader. There are multiple issues with word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the essay, such as 'kept' instead of 'keep', 'clousre' instead of 'closure', 'naturqal' instead of 'natural', and 'belevie' instead of 'believe'. The writer attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'extinction' and 'endangered species', but these attempts are marred by inaccurate forms and spelling mistakes. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire and demonstrate greater accuracy in spelling and word formation to ensure smooth communication without distracting errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response features a limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, including subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions, such as in the phrases 'there are animals of some species which are at risk... in order to protect those kinds of species we need to kept them' and 'the rhinos rfe very less in numbers'. Punctuation is also problematic, notably missing periods and incorrect capitalization in places like the concluding paragraph. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns and significantly reduce basic grammatical errors in tense, agreement, and clause structures.
