Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, there are two different opinions are discussed in news papres and journlas, some experts think thank we no longer need to have animals kept in zoos while certain experts did not agree with this idea. It is widely believed that this issue has become increasingly significantly in all socities. While this trends offer numerous benefits to animals while certain drawbacks are also there. I strongly disagree with this opinion that there is no need to have animals kept in zoos .
To begin with advantages of animals kept in zoos, the vital is animals well being and conservation. This may lead to animals growth and for breeding purpose, for instace there is certain kind of zoos animals endanger animlas are kept for breeding. In addition, some zoos are for entertainment purpose and for people awareness regards animlas. This may result to gain animals reight awareness and information regards animlas species . For example students from different school visits to zoos for their assignment and practical information regards animals.
In contrast, certain demerits of zoos can not be ignored liked animals captivity for circus and for different inhuman activities primarly. This may lead to against of animals right of freedom. For instance certain zoos have not enough space and resources for animlas. Finally, there are some animals who lives in pair like male and femlae , some zoos contain only one gender of animals , this may lead to loneleness and agner in animals. For example in karachi, zoos administration kept onle one male elephent for around 8 years.
In conclusion, although there are multiple benefits of animals kept in zoos some disadvantages can not be ignored like not having proper space and resources. In my personal perspective the advantages of zoos are more then disadvantages. However, above mention disadvantages can be addressed with some proper suggestions, guidelines , proper rules and regulations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and state a clear position: “I strongly disagree” with closing zoos, later explaining that their advantages outweigh their disadvantages. Relevant reasons include conservation and breeding, public education, and concerns about captivity and inadequate space. The Karachi elephant example also gives the discussion a specific illustration. However, some points are only briefly explained: for instance, you mention breeding endangered animals but do not clarify how zoos support conservation or what conditions make this effective. The education point could likewise be linked more directly to why zoos should remain open. Develop these ideas with clearer explanation and evidence, and make your position consistent by explaining how the disadvantages can be addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “In contrast,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening shifts between opinions and then introduces a sentence about “trends” and “drawbacks” without a clear link to the question. Within paragraphs, several ideas are placed together without showing their relationship, and repeated phrases such as “This may lead to” make the progression feel formulaic. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports; also ensure pronouns and references clearly identify the idea being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “conservation,” “breeding,” “captivity,” “resources,” and “awareness,” which helps communicate the main ideas about zoos. There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as animals’ freedom and loneliness. However, the range and control are limited by repeated wording and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “animlas,” “endanger animlas,” “reight awareness,” and “loneleness.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “animals growth” and “gain animals awareness,” which can make the intended meaning less clear. Build a more accurate set of topic collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, use “animal welfare,” “endangered species,” and “raise public awareness” in place of the less natural phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “for example,” and “although.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, and the response is divided into complete paragraphs. However, some sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. The opening, “there are two different opinions are discussed,” combines incompatible structures, while “While this trends offer numerous benefits…” is a dependent clause without a complete main clause. There are also errors in agreement and sentence formation, as in “animals who lives in pair” and “students … visits.” Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly around introductory phrases and commas. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check subject–verb agreement and punctuation.
