Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years, it is argued that we do not neeed to have zoos to keep animals. However, others believe that zoos should be closed because people no longer want animals to keep them in a zoo. This essay will discuss both statement equally and I believed that we don't need to close zoos completely otherwise we should limit the number of zoo.

On the one hand, I disagree with the statement because closing zoo completely can results in positive and negative impacts equally. Nowadays, people are intrested to see wild animals and to get information about them. For example, we can not able to see wild animals in a jungle because it can be dangerous for people to see creatures in a field. Consequently goverment should focus on the limations of zoo that some zoos must provide acesses for people to explore the zoo. As a result, people could gain information about different wild animals that can be beneficial. And another reason is that we can get chance to help animals when they are injured.

On the other hand, why I disagree about statement is because if we completely close the zoo then it can leads to some disadvanteges. For example, there are kinds of animal species in the jungle yet to explore and identify new species. We could not able to interact with animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a position—“we don't need to close zoos completely”—and offer relevant reasons, including public learning and helping injured animals. However, the response only partially develops the argument: the second body paragraph mentions undiscovered species and interaction but does not explain how these points support keeping zoos open or address animal welfare. The introduction also promises to “discuss both statement equally,” although the task asks whether you agree or disagree, and your position is not consistently expressed. The response is 226 words, below the required 250, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop a clear degree of agreement and add specific examples and explanation for each main reason.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an introduction and two body paragraphs, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to organise the discussion. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the introduction promises a balanced discussion, while both body paragraphs say you disagree. The second paragraph is very brief and its ideas are not clearly connected: the claim about discovering species does not explain why zoos are needed. Some linking phrases, including “Consequently” and “As a result,” create connections without making the reasoning clear, and “And another reason” is an awkward transition. Use one paragraph for each distinct reason, explain the link between sentences, and maintain a consistent position throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “wild animals,” “injured,” “species,” and “disadvantage,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts less clear, such as “people no longer want animals to keep them in a zoo” and “provide acesses for people to explore the zoo.” Repetition of “zoo,” “animals,” and “people” also restricts precision. Choose vocabulary that expresses your intended meaning directly—for example, distinguish between visiting zoos and keeping animals in captivity—and check spelling carefully. More accurate topic phrases would help you explain conservation, education, and animal welfare without relying on repeated general words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “because” and “that,” and most of your main points remain understandable. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “closing zoo completely can results,” “we can not able to see,” and “if we completely close the zoo then it can leads.” These show problems with verb forms and sentence construction. There are also issues with articles and number, as in “close zoo completely.” Practise building accurate clauses with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and verb patterns. For instance, use “closing zoos can have” and “we cannot see” rather than combining incompatible forms.
