Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is an ongoing debeat on the no longer need for the animals to be kept in the zoos and wheather zoos should be closed or not. This essay will discuss both the views and what should be done.

To begin with, animals have right to live in their preferred habitate and in the forest areas of their comfort. Many animals lose their life in zoos just because of not being taken care properly. Seperation from their family may make them feel alone and sad. Not eating properly and not given medicines on time may lead them to several un-curable diseases.

Many times animals such as lions, elephants and so on, becomes life threatning for humans in a way when suddenly arrived in the town. To prevent such situation governments should provide proper care and shelter for animals. Sign bords should be appiled on the places with risk of danger. Zoos should be inspected by the higher authorities to confim the proper medical care as well as food for the animals. Supervisors shuld be assisted in the zoos for looking foward for the proper place. In my opinion, I think that animals should have their freedom and believe that if kept in zoos they should be provided proper care and and love for the peaceful life.

To put it in a nut shell, I pen down saying that animals have the right to live freely. Thought , it has many risks but the government should look forward for the improvements.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the topic by discussing animals’ welfare in captivity and suggesting that zoos should provide better care, but your position on whether zoos should be closed is not consistently clear. The introduction promises to discuss “both the views,” although the task asks for your own degree of agreement, and the conclusion says animals should live freely while also accepting that they may be kept in zoos. Relevant points include separation from families and inadequate medical care, but these are asserted rather than supported with specific examples or explanation. The discussion of animals entering towns shifts toward safety measures and does not clearly establish whether closing zoos would help. State your position directly and develop two relevant reasons with examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “To put it in a nut shell” signal stages in the discussion. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the essay moves from animal welfare to animals threatening humans, then to zoo inspections, without clearly connecting these points to the question of closure. The introduction’s promise to discuss both views is not fulfilled in a balanced or clearly organised way. Some linking is repetitive or awkward, and the final paragraph introduces a contrast (“Thought, it has many risks”) without specifying what “it” refers to. Organise each body paragraph around one clear reason supporting your stated position, and use precise references between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “separation,” “medical care,” “shelter” and “authorities,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors or inaccurate word choices make the writing less clear, as in “debeat,” “habitate,” “life threatning” and “appiled.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “preferred habitate,” “looking foward for the proper place” and “pen down saying” do not express the intended ideas clearly. Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than adding difficult-sounding expressions. For example, describe animals’ “natural habitats” and say that authorities should “inspect zoos regularly.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would make your meaning easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “Seperation from their family may make them feel alone and sad” and a sentence beginning “To prevent such situation…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. Examples include missing articles in “animals have right” and “in zoos,” subject–verb disagreement in “animals … becomes,” and faulty sentence construction in “Many times animals … becomes life threatning for humans in a way when suddenly arrived in the town.” The final sentence also has unclear punctuation and reference: “Thought , it has many risks.” Practise accurate article use, agreement and complete clause structures, then check punctuation and sentence boundaries.
