Student answer (Band 6.0)
Zoos are national resources. Some people think that keeping animals in zoos is no longer necessary, so they should be closed, while others argue that zoos are still essential to protect animals. I am completely disagree with the concept of closing zoos. In my opinion, the number of zoos should be increased and keep animals safe there.
There are many reasons why zoos shouldn't be closed. The major reason is to protect animals from extinction. Nowadays, a significant types of animals are rarely seen . Some are already disappeared from their normal habitats, such as tigers hardly be seen in Mangrove forest which was populated with them back in the past. They are already about to extinct. Keeping them in zoos is an effective way of protection and retain the biodiversity. They can continue their reproductions in zoos safely. Another important fact is that zoos are the good soruces of national income. People specially children go to visit zoos, become familiar with animals . So, governments can earn money from entry fee and this contributes to national economy.
Despite all these arguments , some people argue that zoos are no longer necessary. Myabe the main reason is if animals are captivated in zoos, it could be harmful for natural ecosystem. Animals who are dependent on each others for foods suffer from hunger. In addition, sometimes visitors can hit animals. Most of the visitiors are children, so they might cause harm to the animals even without realising.
In conclusion, although animals can feel captivated in zoos, they are still necessary to protect animals from extinction and reserve biodiversity. Having considered both sides, I argue that zoos shouldn't be closed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and the conclusion restates this view. You give relevant reasons, especially protecting endangered animals and generating income, and you acknowledge a counterargument about animals being harmed in captivity. However, the ideas are not developed equally. The extinction argument includes an example about tigers, but the claim that zoos help preserve biodiversity and support reproduction needs clearer explanation. The income point is also brief, and the counterargument is not fully answered: you mention visitor harm and hunger but do not explain how zoos can prevent these problems. Develop each point with a specific explanation or example to make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting zoos, a paragraph presenting concerns, and a conclusion. The progression from your main reasons to the opposing view is easy to follow, and phrases such as “Another important fact” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, “Animals who are dependent on each others for foods suffer from hunger” is not clearly connected to the point about captivity. Group related explanations more tightly and use referencing that makes the connection explicit. This would make the argument flow more naturally rather than relying mainly on familiar transition phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “extinction,” “biodiversity,” “natural habitats,” and “national income,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “an effective way of protection.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “a significant types,” “sor uces,” “captivated,” and “reserve biodiversity” do not express the intended meanings naturally. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly repeated references to animals and zoos. Aim to learn vocabulary in accurate phrases and check spelling carefully; more precise expressions would make your argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “although” and a conditional structure with “if.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “I am completely disagree” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “a significant types” shows a problem with agreement and number. In “Some are already disappeared,” the verb form is inaccurate, and “tigers hardly be seen” is missing an appropriate auxiliary. There are also issues with articles and sentence punctuation. Review verb patterns, subject–verb agreement, and article use, then proofread each sentence. Greater accuracy in these areas would strengthen your control of the structures you already attempt.
