Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, the issue of keeping zoos closed has become a topic of considerable debate and widespread discussion in the modren society. While some people believe that zoos should be closed because it is not essential to keep animals there. I firmly agree with the view due to several compelling reasons. This essay will not only elaborate my viewpoint but also provides relevant examples to support it.
To commence with, one of the most significant reason is that keeping wild animals in captivity can effect their physical and mental health. Wild animals need sufficient space to move freely, hunt and behave normally. Moreover, zoological gardens restricts their movements and prevents them from living naturally. For example, lions, elephants and tigers may experience stress and frustration when they are in a small cage as a result they suffer from numerous physical and mental problems.Therfore, keeping animals in zoos just for public entertainment should be strongly discouraged.
Another cruial factor is that nowadays adults and kids can watch wild animals through social media platforms instead of physically going to animals parks. Due to busy scedule and workload individuals do not have enugh time to go to zoo and explore things about animals life.People can also obtain information about them through documentries, educational videos and modern technology rather than visiting zoos. Furthermore, governments must establish natural plaes for wild animals where they can live more naturally and without any restrictions. For instance, endangered species can be protected through various programmes which ensure preventing illegal hunting of animals and habitat destruction.
In conclusion, the statement shows that zoos should be banned because animals must be living in their natural places such as forests. I believe that this should be implemented widely across the country for preservation of wildlife.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that zoos should close, and the conclusion restates this view. You give two relevant reasons—captivity can harm animals, and people can learn about wildlife through media—and support them with examples such as lions, elephants and endangered-species programmes. This addresses the task, but the reasons are not developed equally. The point about animal welfare is explained, while the claim that busy people do not have time to visit zoos is less directly connected to whether zoos are necessary. The alternative of creating natural places is also introduced but not explained in detail. To strengthen the response, clarify how sanctuaries or conservation programmes could replace zoos’ educational and protective roles, and develop each example more specifically.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To commence with,” “Another… factor,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument, and the main ideas generally progress logically. However, some linking is mechanical, and connections between claims are occasionally unclear. For example, the move from people’s busy schedules to the need for natural places does not fully explain how one point leads to the next. The sentence beginning “For example” also combines the animals’ confinement, its cause and its consequences without clear punctuation. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting example explicit. More precise referencing would also help the argument flow smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “captivity,” “physical and mental health,” “endangered species,” and “habitat destruction.” These choices show an attempt to discuss animal welfare and conservation beyond basic terms. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “modren,” “cruial,” “scedule,” “enugh,” “documentries,” and “plaes.” Some collocations are also awkward: “go to animals parks,” “explore things about animals life,” and “natural places” do not express the intended ideas naturally. “Keeping zoos closed” in the opening can also suggest that zoos are already shut, rather than arguing that they should close. Proofread spelling and learn common topic collocations; this will make your meaning more precise and help you use your otherwise relevant vocabulary more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “because it is not essential to keep animals there” and a relative clause in “programmes which ensure…”. The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, sentence boundaries and punctuation remain. For example, “one of the most significant reason” needs a plural noun, while “zoological gardens restricts” has a subject–verb agreement error. “This essay will not only elaborate my viewpoint but also provides” uses mismatched verb forms, and “as a result” needs clearer punctuation when joining the clauses. There are also run-on or incomplete sentence boundaries, such as after “discussion” and “entertainment.” Review agreement and parallel structures, and check that each sentence is correctly joined and punctuated.
