Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that animals shouldnot be kept in cage and zoos shold be closed . In my opinion , I partially agree with this view because if zoos are closed animals are free to move here and there and they are able to live their life naturally in the nature and they will die due to hunger.

First and foremost , There are clear reason why zoos shold be closed one of them is freedom of animals because they will be able to go different places and enjoy according to their mood. Animals are the nature animal so that this is very significant for them and enjoy their life in their own way. For instance, If lions are kept in a zoo they are not able to move and get the accordind to their wish there will be high chance of death.

In constarst, For animals zoos is also important and should be kept in a zoos. In zoos they are able to get proper foods and nutritions required to their body so that in these cases zoos play a vitual role. In many jungles animals are passing due to hunger issue the only solution is keeping them in a zoos and giving the required food. As a result, this also helps in preserving animals which are becoming extinct from the world.

In conclision, although there are many pros and cons of this for animals. But this two are the main points keeping animals in the zoos and closing the zoos. the advantage for the animals is they will get proper food and nutritions and disadvatages is their freedom, choice and lifestyle how they love to live.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a relevant, partly balanced response: you recognise animal freedom as a reason to close zoos, while arguing that zoos provide food and help protect endangered species. This gives the reader a general sense of your position. However, the opening is difficult to follow because it says you agree that zoos should close, then suggests animals would die from hunger if they did. The conclusion lists advantages and disadvantages but does not clearly resolve whether you agree or disagree with closure. Several points also need fuller explanation—for example, explain how zoos preserve endangered animals, or distinguish responsible sanctuaries from unsuitable captivity. A clearer, consistent position and more developed examples would make the response address the question more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting arguments, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “First and foremost,” “In contrast,” and “As a result” help signal the direction of ideas. However, progression is sometimes unclear: the introduction’s claim that animals would be free but die of hunger does not establish a coherent position, and the conclusion repeats the two sides without deciding between them. Some linking phrases are used mechanically, and references such as “this two” and “one of them” are not always clear. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it in a logical sequence, and use linking expressions only where they accurately show the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “freedom,” “nutritions,” “preserving,” and “extinct,” so the reader can identify the main subject and arguments. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “shold,” “constarst,” “accordind,” “vitual,” and “passing due to hunger issue.” Phrases such as “nature animal” and “proper foods” are also not natural in this context. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the general message, but they make parts of the response less clear and fluent. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms, especially in key claims.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if zoos are closed” and a reason-result construction with “so that.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “Animals are the nature animal so that this is very significant for them” has unclear structure and agreement, while “In zoos they are able to get proper foods and nutritions required to their body” contains problems with articles and grammatical patterns. Capitalisation after commas and spacing around punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
