Student answer (Band 5.0)
First of all,I will explain what the zoos are and why are they build. And then I will explain its advantage and disadvantages. And then I will give my personal opinion and my experience.
First, when we heard the word zoos ,the question aroused in our mind , what the zoos are? The answer is very simple. The zoos are type of places built by some private or government organizations where all types of animals are kept there so that the people can visit it and see all types of animal and can amuse themselves .Of course they have to pay the money to see the animals and doing this benefits the one who made that zoos.
There are all types of animals including from sheep to lion and its include birds from Sparrow to Eagle. Those who want to know that how lions are looked and how they roar can visit the zoo and amuse themselves. And thos who wants to see snakes or birds like Eagle can also visit the zoo and can see all types of birds or reptiles they want which they cannot find in their city or house.
The advantage of zoos are that people can find and play with all types of animals ,birds and reptiles. And the government and private industries can also make money fromthat which can be used later for the nation.
And th main disadvantage of zoos are that they keep the living things in a cage which is wrong as these animals are born free .So in my opinion they should live there life freely and should not be kept in cages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You discuss both a benefit of zoos—allowing people to see animals and generating income—and the concern that animals are confined, so the response is relevant to the topic. However, the task asks whether zoos should be closed, and your position is only implied in the final sentence rather than stated clearly and consistently. The opening promises an opinion and personal experience, but no personal experience is provided, and the discussion does not explain whether alternatives such as sanctuaries could replace zoos. Most points are brief examples or assertions, such as saying visitors can see lions or snakes, rather than developed reasons. State your view directly and support it with fuller explanations and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction, descriptions and advantages of zoos, a disadvantage, and a concluding opinion. Paragraph breaks also help separate some ideas. However, progression is limited because the opening announces a plan instead of introducing the central argument, and the body repeats the idea that visitors can see different animals. Linking phrases such as “And then,” “First,” and repeated “And” are mechanical, while the final opinion arrives abruptly. Some references, including “they” and “that,” are not always precise. Organise the essay around a clear position, with one paragraph for the strongest supporting reason and another for a counterargument or alternative, using more varied and accurate links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “animals,” “cage,” “government,” and “advantage and disadvantages,” and readers can generally understand your meaning. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “all types of animals” and “visit the zoo.” Some choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “amuse themselves” for enjoying a visit, “made that zoos,” and “living things” when referring specifically to animals. Spelling and word-form slips such as “thos” and “industries” also reduce control. Build a more precise topic vocabulary and check collocations; for example, describe zoos as “provide educational opportunities” or “confine animals in enclosures.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in “places built by some private or government organizations where…” and a reason clause beginning “so that.” This shows some effort to vary structure, but many sentences contain errors that make reading less smooth. Examples include “why are they build,” “the advantage … are,” “they keep the living things,” and “they should live there life,” which show problems with question structure, agreement, verb forms, and possessives. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “a type of places” and “all types of animal.” Punctuation spacing and sentence boundaries need attention. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then add complex structures while checking agreement, tense, and possessives.
