Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, zoo plays an important role in protecting and preserving diiferent species around the world. Some people argue that zoos are being closed because they do not give the proper habitat to animals. while acorrding to me zoos play a crucial role in protecting endangered species and educating people.

Firslty, one major reason why zoos should remain open they help to protect the engangered species. Many animals are at risk of extinction because of hunting, climate change and habitat destruction. Zoos provide the safe environment and organize breeding programs to increase their population. For example, endangered species like deers and pandas can recieve the special care and proctection in the well maintained zoo. As a result, zoos can help to protect the endangered animals from disappearing forever.

Secondly, it is a place that hepls to eduacte people about the wildlife. Visitors, especially pupils can learn about different animal species and gain the valuable information about protecting nature. For instance, zoos encourage the childrens to take care of living organism around their surrondings such as birds or cats. As a result, the result the wild life at the local areas can be safe and their poplution will be increased.

However, there are also some drewbacks, zoos can keep animals in small cages and not able to give the suitable living conditions. Ultimatley, animals are not easily moved and unhappy in the artificail enovirnment, so they feel stress and die.

In the modern world, protection and conservation of wildlife have become crucial issue. Although, zoos are not give the proper natural lifestyle, it helps to preserve the wildlife and give knowlege to people about the importance of animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe zoos should remain open because they protect endangered species and educate the public. Both reasons are relevant, and the examples of breeding programmes and pupils learning about wildlife help support your view. You also acknowledge the opposing concern that animals may be confined in small cages and experience stress, so the response addresses both sides of the question. However, the conservation point is more fully explained than the education point, whose link between zoo visits and protecting local wildlife is not made clear. The conclusion repeats your position but could more directly weigh the benefits against the welfare concern. Develop that comparison and explain how responsible zoos can address animal welfare.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a paragraph recognising a drawback, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “As a result” make the progression easy to follow. Some cohesion is mechanical, though, and repeated result markers do not always show a clear cause-and-effect link. In the education paragraph, the move from children learning about animals to local wildlife populations increasing needs an explanation. There is also an unclear repetition in “As a result, the result,” and the final paragraph largely restates earlier points. Use linking phrases more selectively, make references between ideas explicit, and ensure each paragraph advances the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “breeding programs,” “habitat destruction,” “conservation,” and “artificial environment.” These choices communicate the main ideas and show an attempt to use language suited to the topic. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable, for example “diiferent,” “engangered,” “recieve,” and “poplution.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “the safe environment,” “living organism,” and “the wild life at the local areas.” These do not usually prevent understanding, but they limit precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations, such as “provide a safe environment” and “wildlife populations.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“because of hunting, climate change and habitat destruction”) and a contrast introduced by “Although.” The main argument is generally understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation make parts less controlled. For example, “one major reason why zoos should remain open they help” is missing a linking structure, while “zoos are not give” has an incorrect verb form. In “zoos can keep animals in small cages and not able to give,” the second clause lacks a clear subject and verb. Practise building complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation, especially when joining contrasting ideas.
