Student answer (Band 5.5)

Today's senerio shows that a great number of wildlife is increasingly kept in the zoos. This act means there could be a feeling of isolation among the animals as they are captivated in a fixed place.I do agree with the statement , and in further paragraphs,I indeed to give relevant arguments and examples about my opinion.

Initially, there were no zoos or wildlife sancturies,so animals were free in the open woods.Humans were in no hunt for animals to keep them in isolated places. But,these days, animals are unwilling captured and put in a type of jail with the artificial trees and suitable enviornment.Animals do not feel adjusted in that place. After that, a sense of isolation and being seperated from their family begins to take place in their heart. If an animal is not happy ,so it cannot enjoy the provided food or shelter, all it desires to meet his family or to be free from this captivation,As a result of this,it an face a severe health related problem that could the cause of its death.

Moreover,in some zoos, the caretakers do not properly take care or feed the animal. They just do not give them regular meals and often treat them bad as well. For instance, some zoos owners, only kept animals for their own benefits. As people or tourists come to the zoo, owners charge them a fair accordng to visiting hours. So as if,owners become greedy they can just increase the visting time and charge more for it.

To summarize,I think zoos should be closed as animals have right to enjoy their life in freedom and open woods.Imagine, someone spent their whole life in captivation just to be someone's reason to grow financially, which is even not the rule of the nature as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I do agree”) and conclusion, and you give relevant reasons: captivity can affect animals’ wellbeing, and some zoo owners may prioritise profit over care. These points address the question, but they are not developed equally. The discussion of isolation is more detailed, although it relies on broad claims about animals’ feelings and health without a specific example or explanation of how zoos might differ. The point about owners charging visitors is less directly connected to whether zoos should close; explain how profit leads to poor welfare, or acknowledge the conservation and educational roles of well-managed zoos before rejecting them. More precise support and fuller treatment of the main arguments would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing expressions such as “Initially,” “Moreover,” and “To summarize” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, making relationships between ideas harder to follow. For example, the transition from animals’ unhappiness to health problems needs a clearer explanation, while “So as if” does not form a clear connection to the point about owners’ charges. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make each paragraph’s central point explicit, then connect supporting details with clear references and logical cause-and-effect links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “isolation,” “captivated,” “artificial,” and “financially,” and the reader can generally understand your position. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning less natural: “a great number of wildlife,” “unwilling captured,” “a fair according to visiting hours,” and “reason to grow financially.” Spelling errors such as “senerio,” “sancturies,” “enviornment,” and “seperated” are also noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than using ambitious wording that does not fit the context. For instance, describe animals as “held in captivity” and explain that some zoos “charge admission fees” or “prioritise profit.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures. Some sentences communicate the intended meaning clearly, but errors in sentence formation, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation recur. Examples include “If an animal is not happy, so it cannot enjoy,” where the conditional clause is not joined correctly, and “it an face … that could the cause,” which contains faulty verb forms. The opening also has a comma splice in “This act means there could be a feeling of isolation among the animals as they are captivated in a fixed place” only if the clauses are separated incorrectly elsewhere; throughout, missing spaces and punctuation around sentence boundaries make reading less controlled. Practise accurate complex clauses and proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly linked structure.
