Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, there is an ongoing debate whether their is no longer need to have aniamls kept in zoos.Consequently, should be closed. Some individuals agree with this view white some individuals make argue with this view. However, I strongly disagree with that perspective because zoos is very beneficial for animals, medical field, and also country tourisum overall.

One of the primary reasons why zoos are crucial becasue their are so many aniamls species which are near to extention.Their are only few animals of these species are alive like white lions and many other. Zoos can help in reproduction amd protection of these species. For instance in Pakistan, there very less number of deers but zoos can help the government to reproduce a large number deers which are near to extention. An other main reason is the research on amimals by scientist for inventing medicines. Zoos can facilitate the scientists by providing these animals. And zoos are also take a great part in country tourisum because a lot indivisuals come from different nations for seeing these rar animals.

On the other hand, some individuals perspective is that their is on longer need to have animals kept in zoos because they believe that it is very harmfull for their mental health. They fell like they are in preason moreover they think that they donot have freedom for living their life according to their own will. For instane if an animal do not do perform any act without its caretaker permention.Consequently the animal mood change to anger that can affect its mental health a lot.

In conslucion, I strongly disagree with this view because there are a lot of advantages of keeping animals in zoos.It is also very beneficial or both human and animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons involving species protection, scientific research, and tourism. You also acknowledge the opposing view that captivity can harm animals’ mental health, so the response addresses both sides of the question. However, some points are more fully explained than others. The conservation argument includes examples such as white lions and deer in Pakistan, but the research and tourism claims are asserted rather than supported with specific explanation. The counterargument would also be stronger if you explained how these welfare concerns could be addressed, or why they do not outweigh the benefits. Develop each main reason with a clearer example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting zoos, a paragraph presenting the opposing view, and a conclusion. This makes your position and the main stages of the argument easy to identify. You use linking expressions such as “For instance,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” to guide the reader. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Consequently, should be closed” has no clear subject, and several ideas in the second paragraph are joined with repeated “and” rather than being grouped into a clear sequence. Use complete transitions and make references such as “these species” and “these animals” unmistakably clear. This would make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “reproduction,” “protection,” “research,” “mental health,” and “freedom.” These choices help communicate the main arguments, and you try to use some less common terms. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “extention,” “tourisum,” “preason,” and “rar animals.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “a great part in country tourism” and “inventing medicines.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for this topic. For example, use “contribute to tourism” and “developing medicines.” A more precise vocabulary range would help you express your ideas with less repetition and greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, more complex sentences, including “because they believe that it is very harmful for their mental health.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. Examples include “zoos is very beneficial,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “there very less number of deers,” which is missing a verb and has an incorrect sentence pattern. The opening also contains an incomplete sentence: “Consequently, should be closed.” Articles, plurals, and verb forms need more consistent control. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and sentence boundaries when editing. This will make your argument easier to follow.
