Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, there is an ongoing debate that animals are not supposed to be kept in zoo anymore so, all zoos sould be closed. I completely disagree with the given arguement as I believe zoos considerably contribute towards the protection of endangered living beings and also helps in providing various educational informaton regarding numerous living species to youngsters and even adults.
Although, animals are locked up in a cell inside the zoo which steals their freedom of roaming around in a vast forest. I believe, zoo plays a vital role regarding the safety and shelter of the numerous endangered species. They basically create a habitual environment considering the animal's lifestayle while it also helps makes them feel like home. Instead of hunting for resources, animals are provided with nutrious meals. Animals in the zoo and more safer than they are in wild life as they are less prone to diseases or other dominant species. For instance, animals in the zoo are much more healthy and less prone towards diseases and injuries than the ones in the wild life. This conributes towards the proper management and safety of living being who are on the verge of extinct.
Furthermore, zoos provide educational information regarding the habitat of numerous living beings and their lifestyle to the youngsters and all other age groups. Individuals can learn about the daily lifestyle of various wild animals such as what they consume, how they breed or even the situation they like to live in. For instance, children can learn about the eating and living habits by exploring various animals in the zoo.
In conclusion, zoo plays a vital role for both wild life animals as well as for the educational purposes regarding the daily lifestyle of animals for the children and adults. In my opinon, rather than the closure of zoos, individulas should promote zoo more than usual and also consider the creation of conservation areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely disagree with closing zoos, and the conclusion restates this view. You address two relevant reasons—protection of endangered animals and education—and give examples, such as children learning about animals’ diets and breeding. This covers the task well overall. However, the conservation argument is more developed than the educational one, which mainly repeats that visitors can learn about animals’ habits. Some claims, including that zoo animals are safer and healthier than wild animals, are broad and would be more convincing with a specific example or qualification. To strengthen the response further, explain how zoos contribute to conservation, for example through breeding programmes or reintroduction efforts, and develop the educational benefit beyond observation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from conservation to education is logical, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The organisation is effective, though some linking is mechanical and a few connections between ideas are unclear. For example, the first body paragraph moves from animals’ freedom to shelter, food, safety, and health without always showing how each point supports the central conservation claim. The repeated “For instance” also introduces examples that largely restate the preceding point. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and make each example add specific evidence rather than repeat the general claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “habitat,” “breeding,” and “conservation areas,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “contribute towards the protection.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural: “habitual environment” does not express the intended idea, while “living being” and “wild life” are imprecise in context. Errors such as “sould,” “arguement,” “informaton,” and “extinct” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations—for example, “suitable habitat” and “at risk of extinction”—and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “animals who are on the verge of extinct” and a contrast introduced by “Although.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main argument remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, sentence construction, and punctuation recur. For example, “zoos … helps” should use a plural verb, while “zoo plays a vital role” needs an article or plural form. “Although” begins a dependent clause that is left incomplete, and “Animals in the zoo and more safer” has an incorrect verb and comparative construction. Work on complete clause structures, subject–verb agreement, and articles, then check each sentence for a clear grammatical relationship between its parts.
