Student answer (Band 5.0)
zoos are the interesting places to visit and have fun. Many people believe that zoos should be closed and animals should be released in wildlife. I will discuss this in detail in the body paragraph.
Many people agree with this, yet alot does not. Some people agree with this and some people disagree, according to their thinking style.
To begin with, In zoos different species of wild animals that normally people don't see around, are kept. People along with their children visit the zoos and get to know about different species of different animals. Students get a chance to study on them while not pushing themselves into any dangers. Citizens can visit zoos and look at some animals that can also perform stunts. They feed those animals and try to enjoy themselves.
Yet, many people disagree with this. They say that every animal has a right to live in their own habitats, along with their family and hood, which is so logical. Nobody can disagree with this. In zoos, No doubt they are fed properly, they play, still they dont enjoy like how they used to with their own families and in their own habitats. People believe that, If we were kept in a cage like that and different other species came to see us all day, we defined would not felt good. This feeling is the main reason why some people want to close all the zoos.
As per my conclusion, I also agree with the closure of the zoos. If someone has a keen desire to see wildlife he can do wildlife safaris, which is the best alternative.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question and give a clear final position: “I also agree with the closure of the zoos.” The discussion includes relevant points about education and safety, as well as animals’ rights and the limits of life in captivity. However, the response only partially develops the task: the opening says you will discuss the issue but does not establish your own view, and the body mainly presents general claims rather than explaining or illustrating them. For example, the educational value of zoos is listed, but not weighed against the harm to animals or connected to your final position. The safari alternative is relevant but needs explanation. State your position in the introduction and develop a few reasons with specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs for the introduction, arguments, and conclusion, and signposting such as “To begin with” and “Yet” helps readers recognise a change in viewpoint. However, progression is limited because the second paragraph repeats the same idea—“Some people agree with this and some people disagree”—without advancing the discussion. The introduction promises a detailed discussion but does not preview the writer’s position, which appears only in the conclusion. Some links are also awkward or unclear, including “As per my conclusion.” Organise the body around distinct reasons, connect each reason to the central position, and use referencing and transitions to show how the ideas relate rather than relying on repeated statements.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “species,” “habitats,” “cage,” and “wildlife safaris.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as repeated uses of “people,” “animals,” and “agree with this.” Some word choices and collocations make the meaning less natural: “released in wildlife,” “study on them,” and “family and hood” do not express the intended ideas clearly. There are also informal or inaccurate forms such as “alot” and “stunts.” Aim for more precise phrases for captivity, conservation, and animal welfare, and check collocations and spelling. This would make the argument clearer and more appropriate to an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a relative clause in “animals that can also perform stunts” and a conditional comparison beginning “If we were kept in a cage.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. Examples include “zoos are the interesting places,” “different species … are kept” with an unclear sentence structure, and “we defined would not felt good,” where the verb forms are faulty. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “In zoos, No doubt” and “If.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and checking articles, verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries. Clearer control of these basics will help your ideas come across more smoothly.
