Student answer (Band 6.0)

All living creatures are part this beautiful ecosystem. Animals must be treated equally and respectfully. So people believe that animals must not be caged in artifical landscape and all zoos must be closed. I would like to provide my opinion with an agreement to this statement.

Every creature must have equal rights to freedom. Freedoms helps in better growth and development. In a zoo, animals are trapped and constrained between concrete walls and steel bars. This behaviour of forceful trapping of animals for greed and enjoyment is considered as a disrespect towards nature. Realising this mistake, law-makers are making strict actions towards animal freedom. As a result, zoos are being closed and more national park and conservation parks are promoted like that of Vantara.

Additionally, maintainence cost of any zoos are significantly high. A zoo tries to replicate same environment for an individual animal with a tighter.Creating this replica requires high capital investment for land as well as the infrastructure. Additionally, skilled employees are assigned, which adds to the cost. Other than that, special food diet for each animal is very important and it contributes in maximum expenditure of a zoo. Inspite of such expenses, very few visitors visits zoo. Therefore, zoo acts as a liability for government. Today's citizens are prefering visit's national parks, either in nation or abroad. Parks like Tsavo National Park near Nairobi is a great place to view animals in nature.

To conclude, I would like give my opinion in providing freedom to animals by stop trapping them in artificial areas, because this will help in beautify nature's glory and reduce government's expenditure burden.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I would like to provide my opinion with an agreement”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons for closing zoos: animals’ freedom and the expense of maintaining facilities, and the examples of national parks help illustrate alternatives. This addresses the task, but the reasons are not equally developed. The animal-welfare point would be stronger with a specific explanation of how captivity harms animals or why protected habitats can meet their needs. The cost argument also relies on broad claims, such as “very few visitors visits zoo,” without evidence or qualification. To strengthen the response, explain and support each main reason more fully, while acknowledging why some people may value zoos.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “As a result,” and “Therefore” make the progression easy to follow. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the second body paragraph repeats “Additionally” while moving between costs, visitor numbers, and national parks. The relationship between the claim that zoos are closing and the example of Vantara is also not made clear. Use a wider range of linking methods, and make the connection between each example and the point it supports explicit. A more focused sequence within the cost paragraph would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “ecosystem,” “constrained,” “conservation parks,” “capital investment,” and “expenditure.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue beyond basic terms. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “artifical landscape,” “a tighter,” “special food diet,” and “government’s expenditure burden” are awkward or unclear in context. There are also spelling errors such as “maintainence” and “prefering.” Some phrases, including “beautify nature’s glory,” sound unnatural. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; simpler wording is preferable when a more ambitious phrase is not yet secure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and longer sentences, including a subordinate clause in “Realising this mistake, law-makers are making strict actions towards animal freedom.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “Freedoms helps,” “very few visitors visits,” and “Today's citizens are prefering visit's national parks.” The sentence fragment “Creating this replica requires high capital investment for land as well as the infrastructure” follows an incomplete preceding phrase, “with a tighter.” To improve, check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and ensure each sentence has a complete, clearly connected structure. More accurate control of these forms would make your ideas easier to read.
