Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's rapidly changing the world, where we talk about freedom of speech, everyone's rights and living freely so it is our main responsibility to also think about animals in the same we care about environment. In this regards, we no longer need to have wild species kept in zoos for our entertainment purpose and zoos should be closed permanently.

One of the main reasons to agree this concept is that animals could be live in their own habitats with their family. Naturally, they are not exist for keeping them in zoos or any type of cage. As same we human can not live in jail by our own wish. In 2010, wildlife shared a report regarding the psycology of animals who keeps in zoos for a longer time and according to them it is not a good idea to keeping them in zoos for any reason. They also shared that they do not live longer and happily when People kept them in cages.

Furthermore, zoos offer educational opportutinities that can rasie public awareness of environmental issues. By observing animals at close range, visitors, especially children, can develop a better understanding of wildlife and the importance of protecting it. In 2018, Thai governement closed the maya bay for almost 4 years just to sake of sea animals and the protecting of environment and reopens it in 2022 with strict rules and regulations for a better life of sea animals. All zoos should not be closed.

In conclusion, although life of animals would be better in jungle where they live without any cage, I agree that all the zoos should be closed and animal wildlife should be a priority.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a position in the introduction and conclusion: you support closing zoos because animals should live freely. However, the response only partially addresses the question because the argument is not sustained consistently. The paragraph beginning “Furthermore” presents the educational value of zoos as a reason to keep them, and ends with “All zoos should not be closed,” which conflicts with your stated position. The Maya Bay example concerns a protected marine area rather than a zoo, so its relevance to the proposal is unclear. Your points about animal welfare and education are relevant, but they need clearer explanation and more directly connected examples. Develop one consistent position and explain how each reason supports it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion, and transitions such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal stages of the discussion. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the second body paragraph argues for the educational benefits of zoos and concludes that they should not all close, while the introduction and conclusion support closure. The relationship between the Maya Bay example and zoos is also not made clear. Some links between sentences are awkward, such as “As same we human can not live in jail,” which interrupts the development of the animal-welfare point. Organise the body around reasons that consistently support your position, and use clear references and transitions to show how examples relate to each claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “habitats,” “public awareness,” “environmental issues,” and “strict rules and regulations,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response less clear or natural. Examples include “entertainment purpose,” “wildlife shared a report,” “psycolology,” and “for a better life of sea animals.” Some expressions are repeated or imprecise, such as “animals” and “zoos,” without more specific alternatives. Aim to use accurate collocations and check spelling, while adding precise terms such as “captivity,” “conservation,” or “animal welfare” where they fit your argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “By observing animals at close range,” and use linking clauses such as “although life of animals would be better…” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “animals could be live” and “they are not exist” use incorrect verb forms; “In this regards” and “As same we human” show problems with grammatical patterns and sentence construction. There are also errors in agreement and articles, as in “the psycology of animals who keeps in zoos.” Practise forming complete, accurate sentences with correct verb patterns and agreement before adding more complex clauses.
