Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary world, A large proportion of people believe that we don't requir to kept living organisms in zoos, therefore zoos should be shut down. I strongly disagree with that statement. In this essay i will give examples from my own knowledge.

To beign with, zoos protect endanger species and provide medical care. The population of many rare species decreas day by day because they didn't have a good diet and habitat. Zoo are really benificial for those animals who strugling with that issues. For example, when the population of panda demanish suddenly, the chinies authorities protect the creature in zoo. They give a proper treatment to the pandas and a healthier environment. As a result, thier population grow again and we wear able to see this animal again.

Secondly, zoos plays a significant role for educating people about wildlife. This is because vistors can go to the zoos and obsurve the quality of species. They also do some experiments on the animal. For instance, when school kids visit the zoo they see some rare beasts. They can easily get knowledge about the animal and understand why this creatures are favorable for our planet. As a result, they protect the envoriment and give a good space to living organisms.

In conclusion, I would argue that zoos play a significant role for saving some uniqe creature. Goverment should build more zoos for the safety of animals. Moreover, zoos are the seconde home of wild animals where they can bread again.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly disagree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: zoos can support endangered species and provide opportunities to learn about wildlife. The panda example adds some support, and the school-visit example helps explain the educational point. This meets the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed: the conservation paragraph makes broad claims about population recovery without explaining how zoos contribute, while the education paragraph says visitors “observe the quality of species,” which leaves the intended benefit unclear. The conclusion also introduces building more zoos without weighing this against concerns about keeping animals in captivity. Develop each reason with clearer explanation and a more precise example to make the argument more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant points. However, the linking is somewhat mechanical, with repeated “As a result” constructions, and some references are unclear. For example, “they” in “They also do some experiments on the animal” could refer to visitors or zoos, and “this creatures” does not clearly connect to the preceding plural reference. The conclusion repeats the main position but adds a new claim about building more zoos. Use more varied links, make pronoun references explicit, and ensure the final paragraph synthesises rather than introduces an idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “medical care,” “wildlife,” and “environment,” which helps communicate the main points. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “rare species” and “healthier environment.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are frequent enough to make parts of the response less clear: examples include “requir,” “demanish,” “obsurve,” and “uniqe.” Some combinations are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “observe the quality of species,” “favorable for our planet,” and “second home of wild animals.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for conservation and education. Choosing precise expressions will make your ideas clearer without needing more complicated vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause (“This is because visitors can go…”) and a result clause (“As a result, their population grow again”). The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence structure and basic grammar occur repeatedly. For example, “we don't require to kept” has an incorrect verb pattern, “Zoo are” has a number-agreement problem, and “zoos plays” uses the wrong verb form. Articles and plurals also need attention in phrases such as “the population of panda” and “this creatures.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and an unnecessary capital in “A large proportion.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb patterns, and article use, then proofread each sentence while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
