Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is a hot topic of debate these days that the zoos should be shut down beacuse we no longer need to have animals in a cage at zoo. This essay completely disagrees with the following statement.Because completely closiong zoos would be more dangerous for the wild life as some very endangered species would not be able to survive in the wildlife.
Therefore, developing more zoos would be very beneficial for the society as it does not only provides entertainment to the people it would also support economic development of that area and can be a safe shelter for species that are not able to survive in the wildlife. There are many animals such as Panda,White rhino, black deers, and many birds such as kakatoo and black buggies which are these days called as highly endangered species, and would have completely vanished from the world if the action of saving these species was not implemented, many zoos and organizations are working to increase their population.
On the other hand many people criticise upon their living conditions. But now a days many zoos are developed on very large scales which does not only ensures the safety of animals, they also provide suitable atmosphere for the animals according to their nature.A palce called danzoo in Islamabad is a multizoo whcih has created a wild atmosphere with boundaries where the animals can be taken care and also increase their population. Which also enables the children to experience many different animals under one roof.
In conclusion, this text completely agrees that we need to have animals in zooz. Because they are the source of protecting many endangered species and increase their numbers, providing a convinent way for people to connect with animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons, including protecting endangered species, providing suitable habitats, and allowing children to see animals. The examples of pandas and white rhinos, and the Islamabad zoo, help make the argument more specific. This meets the task well, although the support is uneven: the economic benefit is mentioned but not explained, and the claim that zoos protect species would be stronger with a brief explanation of how breeding or conservation programmes work. The conclusion restates your view, but could draw together the main reasons more precisely. To strengthen the response further, develop each key point with a clear explanation or example and address the criticism of animals’ living conditions in more depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons and a counterpoint, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “Therefore,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Because completely closing zoos…” is a sentence fragment, while the long sentence listing endangered animals combines several ideas without clear separation. The sentence beginning “Which also enables the children…” is also disconnected from the preceding sentence. Use clearer sentence boundaries and make each paragraph follow one main idea, with supporting explanation before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “living conditions,” “shelter,” and “population,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “suitable atmosphere” and “wild atmosphere.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated general words such as “animals,” “people,” and “increase,” as well as inaccurate or unnatural expressions. For instance, “criticise upon their living conditions” and “connect with animals” are not natural collocations in this context. Spelling errors such as “beacuse,” “closiong,” and “convienent” are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Aim for precise conservation vocabulary and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “which,” and “if,” and the main argument is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and agreement occur often enough to affect clarity. “Because completely closing zoos would be more dangerous…” is a fragment, and “it does not only provides” has incorrect verb form and agreement. In “many zoos are developed … which does not only ensures,” the relative clause and verb forms are also faulty. Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas, and some sentences run together. Practise building complete sentences with one clear main clause, then check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation.
