Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that animals are not required to be kept in the zoos and therefore, the zoos should be closed. I disagree with this point of view as endangered species and injured animals still need to be kept in the zoo to help them stay alive. Zoos are the source of revenue and entertainment for those who want to enjoy wildlife without risking their lives in the forest
Most species are at the verge of extinction nowadays because of poaching or many other factors. Zoo plays a very siginificant role by providing them shelter and care. Most importantly, it breeds the few left animals of some particular species and save them from extinction. Furthermore, wildlife department bring severly injured animals to the zoos for treatment and then leave them in the forest. For instance, a specie of leopard called black panther in very rare so that wildlife department bring a couple of panther to breed them to prevent from extinction and release them back in the forest. As a result, the number for that species would increase and there will be a greater chance not to be extinct.
Similarly, zoo contributes to the economy as people pay to visit the zoo mainly for entertainment purpose and to explore wild animals. They get the opportunity to see the wild animals closely and safely without risking their life in the forest. Having said that, zoo is beneficial for both the economy and the animals.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that zoo is far more important to protect some species along with contributing in the economy by providing entertainment and wildlife exposure to the citizens within the city.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons concerning conservation, animal care, and public benefits. The examples of breeding endangered animals and treating injured wildlife help support your argument. This meets the task well, but the reasons are not developed equally: the conservation point receives an example, while the economic and entertainment claims are mostly asserted rather than explained. The black-panther example would also be stronger if you clarified how captive breeding and release work, rather than presenting the outcome as certain. To strengthen the response further, explain the limits or conditions of keeping animals in zoos and develop each main reason with more precise support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Similarly,” and “As a result” help show relationships between points. Some connections are less precise or slightly mechanical, however. For example, “Having said that” suggests a contrast, although the preceding sentences support the same argument. The first body paragraph also moves from endangered species to injured animals and then to a specific breeding example without fully separating these points. Use paragraph focus and referencing more carefully, and choose transitions that accurately express the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “poaching,” “shelter and care,” and “extinction,” which makes the main ideas clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “wildlife department” and “wildlife exposure,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “at the verge of extinction,” “a specie,” and “the number for that species”; spelling errors such as “siginificant” and “severly” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check word forms and common collocations, and prefer established expressions such as “on the verge of extinction” and “wildlife authorities.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “I disagree … as endangered species … need to be kept” and a conditional structure in “there will be a greater chance.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries remain. For example, “Zoo plays” and “wildlife department bring” need appropriate articles and singular/plural agreement; “it breeds … and save” shifts verb form, while “a couple of panther” has a number mismatch. The opening paragraph also ends without a full stop. Review subject–verb agreement, countable nouns, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for consistent verb forms.
