Student answer (Band 5.0)

We no longer need to have animals kept in zoo,so zoos should be closed.

If we are not intrested in keeping animals in zoos anymore that does not mean zoos should be closed. As my concern i disagree with the fact that animals should not be kept in wildlife parks because of the growing fact that living beings should be free to live and breed is a right fact but we need them in order to have sceintific research on them and for the entertainment purposes. As these creatures are not available everwhere they live in specific habitats where access is not easy.in case if someone wishes to see them how should one get their and how much difficult task it should be to reach them.Beside that, an other reason is this we carry out reasearch on them and understand in which ecosystem they survive effectively and find medical solutions for the in case of various diseases.if fauna is kept in suitable safari parks they should also breed and we might take better care of them rather than being in jungle where they might fell prey to other predators.we should take care of them by providing food and by keeping them in suitable environment where they grow effectively.Related such cases i should mention Laal Suhanra Safari park as example where Species of flora & fauna were kept with great care and a proper ecosystem is provided to breed.Morever, there were many precautions were labelled for the public who visits that place to not harm any of their animals and plants ,Amazingly security cameras were installed over there to have a check & balance on them.Furthermore, there were many species which attracted the visitors more. So,regarding to me they should be kept in zoos as their is lot of people who really enjoy them being around.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear position against closing zoos, and several relevant reasons are offered: research, public access, animal care and breeding. The Laal Suhanra Safari Park example also gives the response a specific point of reference. However, the task is only partly addressed because the reasons are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported. For instance, the claim that animals in parks can be protected from predators does not consider whether captivity is suitable or how zoos contribute to conservation. The discussion of entertainment and visitor interest is also not balanced against the welfare concerns raised in the prompt. Develop fewer points in more depth, explain how they support your position, and address the opposing view directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable overall direction: it rejects closure, gives reasons, and ends by restating the position. Linking expressions such as “Beside that,” “Furthermore,” and “So” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the writing is presented as one long paragraph, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the main argument, supporting reasons, example and conclusion. Several links are mechanical or unclear, and ideas sometimes run together—for example, research, breeding, protection and public access appear in a continuous sequence without clear progression. Use separate paragraphs for the position and main reasons, the example, and the conclusion. Make each paragraph develop one central point, and use clear references to show how each example supports it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “scientific research,” “ecosystem,” “predators,” “species,” and “safari parks,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “suitable environment” and “medical solutions.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Phrases such as “As my concern,” “find medical solutions for the,” and “check & balance on them” are not natural in this context. Spelling errors, including “intrested,” “sceintific,” and “reasearch,” are noticeable. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and proofread spelling; choose precise terms rather than repeating general words such as “them” and “care.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “if fauna is kept in suitable safari parks they should also breed.” This shows some willingness to use more than basic sentence patterns. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement and clause structure can make the reader work to follow the argument. For example, “If we are not interested … that does not mean” is joined to the next idea without clear punctuation, while “there is lot of people” has an agreement and article problem. The opening also needs a plural form in “animals kept in zoo.” Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas with accurate punctuation and conjunctions.
