Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that now there is no need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed.I completely agree with this notion because animals does not treated well and many animals lost there lives in zoos. This essay will elaborate on these reasons in detail.
The primary reason to support this view is that animals faces different type of difficulties in zoos. This is largely because owner of zoos only think of profit not fully focus on animals mental and physical health. For instance, now many animals lost there lives beacause of the bad environment in zoos. This clearly demonstrate that animals does not treated well and got ill.
Another compelling argument is that zoos is a good picnic support for families and especially for children. And it increases the knowledge of animals arround human. This is relevant because many people prefer to see different animals in on place .This can be examplified by that in jungle people could not see easily animals because there is so danger in jungle. Despite this opposing view, the benefits are far greater. Therefore, many people believe that zoos should be closed and fully freedom of life give them to animals becuase its there right.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that there is no need to have animals kept in zoos and zoos should be closed. This is because animals should not be treated well and lost there lives. So freedom should be gave to them for there better health .Therefore, close of zoos would be a better option.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You state a clear position in the introduction and conclusion: you agree that zoos should close, mainly because animals are poorly treated and may die. These points are relevant, but they are only briefly explained. The second body paragraph is confusing: it first presents zoos as useful for families and children, then says their benefits are outweighed, without clearly explaining how this supports closure or addressing the opposing view. The response therefore develops the task only partially. It also contains 243 words, which is 7 words below the required minimum; the 12 words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. To strengthen the response, explain each reason with a specific example and make the relationship between your arguments and your position explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure and your overall position. You also use signposting such as “The primary reason,” “Another compelling argument” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within the second body paragraph is difficult to follow: the claims about family outings and learning are followed by a jungle example and then a statement that zoos should close, with the links between these ideas unclear. Some transitions, including “Despite this opposing view,” do not clearly identify which view is being opposed. Several sentences run together without spaces after full stops, which also weakens readability. Organise each paragraph around one clear point, explain how each example supports it, and use referencing and transitions that make the connections explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “animals,” “zoos,” “profit,” “mental and physical health” and “freedom,” which allows the reader to understand the general subject and your position. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “bad environment” and “knowledge of animals,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and make parts of the argument harder to interpret. Examples include “a good picnic support,” “fully freedom of life” and “close of zoos.” Spelling errors such as “arround,” “beacause” and “becuase” are noticeable, as is the repeated use of “animals” and “zoos.” Build a wider set of accurate collocations for animal welfare and conservation, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, for example, “This is largely because…” and “This can be exemplified by…,” showing some effort to vary sentence structure. However, errors are frequent, and several sentences contain faulty agreement or verb forms. In “animals does not treated well,” the subject and verb do not agree and the passive form is incomplete; “animals faces” and “zoos is” also show agreement problems. Other examples include “many animals lost there lives” and “freedom should be gave to them,” where verb forms are inaccurate. Missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent punctuation further affect control. Practise forming accurate present-tense statements and passive constructions, then proofread each sentence for subject–verb agreement, verb form and sentence boundaries.
