Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, zoos have become a subject of considerable debate. While need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed it depends on different factors, I believe that animals need to retained in zoos, mainly because zoos are the places where tourist and local people can visit there and make their moment memorable and zoos can educate children ,also does great impact on economy and society.

One of the main reasons for this is that zoos are big tourist place which is particularly important because tourist and general people through visiting zoos contribute on economics. For example, in different countries large part of income come from zoos . Consequently, if zoos are closed then the economics can be fall down.

Another significant consideration is that children can't learn only through books and internet. In other words, they can learn and gain necessary knowledge by visiting zoos. A good example of this is children often remember easily by interact with practical experience. So they memorize information by visiting zoos. Although want the freedom and want to lead their peaceful life, But taking care of them ,feeding proper foods and by giving proper treatment the loss can be reduced even if it a little bit.

In conclusion, I do think zoos should be open but also by following proper rules regulation. Given that for society, economics and development of country zoos impact great role , I believe that government should look after zoos as it should be monitored closely .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is that zoos should remain open, and you give two relevant reasons: their contribution to tourism and the economy, and their educational value for children. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because these points are asserted more than explained, and the counterargument about animals’ freedom is difficult to follow and not fully answered. For example, “the loss can be reduced even if it a little bit” does not clearly explain how care in zoos resolves concerns about animal welfare. The conclusion repeats your position but offers little further support. The response is also 10 words below the required 250-word minimum; the 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or specific example, and address animal welfare directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument reasonably easy to identify. You also use linking expressions such as “One of the main reasons,” “Another significant consideration,” and “In conclusion” to signal stages in the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “Although want the freedom” shifts to the opposing view without a clear subject or a smooth link to the preceding point, while “Consequently” introduces a result that has not been adequately established. References such as “the loss” are also unclear. To improve, make each paragraph develop one connected idea and use transitions that show the precise relationship between claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “considerable debate,” “contribute,” “practical experience,” and “monitored closely,” and the reader can generally understand your intended position. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For instance, “big tourist place” is not a natural way to describe zoos, “contribute on economics” is imprecise, and “the economics can be fall down” does not express the intended economic consequence clearly. Repetition of “zoos,” “visiting,” and “proper” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations, such as “attract visitors,” “generate revenue,” and “animal welfare,” and check word forms and collocations when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession beginning “Although” and a conditional structure with “if.” However, the range is limited, and complex attempts are often faulty; errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “animals need to retained,” “tourist and local people can visit there,” and “large part of income come from zoos,” which show problems with verb forms, sentence construction, articles, and agreement. The opening sentence is especially difficult to follow because several ideas are joined without a clear grammatical structure. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, as in “children ,also” and “But.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
