Student answer (Band 6.5)
Zoos are places where wild animals are kept confined to cages for conservation, research or educational purpose. There is a debate on whether the zoos should be closed or not. I agree with the idea of closing the zoos.
In zoos, wild animals remains confined in a place rather than in their original habitats. Keeping the animals alone confined in a restricted place leads to stess, trauma, lonliness. Furthermore, these animals starts to losing their natural behaviors, as these artificial and confined environment cannot replicate the wildlife. Due to these animals start to lose their freedom. All of these stress and trauma lead them to various deseases and ultimately they die out of these stess and loneliness. So, ultimately one of the core reason of zoo that is conservation fails.
On the other hand, people argued that zoos are a great place for childrens education and research, as people can come to visit zoo and observe these animals. But we have several alternatives of zoos such as high defination documentries, virtul reality, etc. Another feasible alternative can be creating safari parks instead of zoos where animals are kept free in a wide range of area instead of in cages. People can visit the places in safe vehicles for observing.
To conclude, as zoos gives trauma to the wild animals and they lose their freedom and natural life there, the zoos should be closed. To achive the goal of zoos we can use other alternatives like safari parks or documenties. But we should not compromise with the life of wild animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you agree that zoos should close. You address the main issue by explaining the effects of confinement on animals, and you acknowledge the counterargument that zoos support education and research before proposing alternatives such as documentaries and safari parks. These relevant points are extended with explanations, particularly the link you make between confinement, stress and conservation. However, some claims are broad or insufficiently supported—for example, that animals “ultimately…die out of these stress and loneliness”—and the educational and research benefits are only briefly considered. More precise evidence or a specific example would make the reasoning more convincing and fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall progression: it introduces your view, develops the case against zoos, considers an opposing argument and alternatives, then restates your position. Paragraphing supports this structure, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. Within the main body, however, several ideas are linked in a somewhat repetitive or mechanical way, especially the repeated references to confinement, stress and loss of freedom. The sentence beginning “Due to these animals start to lose their freedom” also disrupts the flow because its relationship to the preceding point is unclear. Use more precise referencing and vary how you connect cause, consequence and example to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “conservation,” “natural habitats,” “artificial environment,” “safari parks” and “virtual reality.” These choices make your main ideas clear, and you attempt some less common terms relevant to animal welfare. However, several spelling errors and inaccurate word choices reduce precision, including “stess,” “lonliness,” “deseases,” “defination” and “documentries.” Some expressions are also awkward or imprecise, such as “animals kept free in a wide range of area” and “one of the core reason.” Aim to check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations; for example, describe animals as living in “large, open enclosures” and refer to “the main purpose of zoos.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “where wild animals are kept” and a contrastive sentence beginning “But we have several alternatives.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “wild animals remains,” “these animals starts,” and “zoos gives.” There are also faulty verb patterns, as in “start to losing,” and the sentence “Due to these animals start to lose their freedom” is not grammatically complete in its current form. Article, number and sentence-structure errors also appear in “for conservation, research or educational purpose.” Review agreement and verb forms, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
