Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, many people say that the animals should not kept in zoo, they need to leave them to their habitat and zoos should be closed completely. I agree with this statement because animals need to have their own freedom, they can live on their own and increase their population which is beneficial for the ecosystem, Zoos generate the revenue using the animals this should be forbidden.
Firstly, the animals should be freely released to their habitat, because animals kept in zoo are always punished in many circumstances also many people who visit zoo try to frighten them which leads to their helath issues. Animals in zoo are completely manipulated and insturcted to everything. For instance, In thailand there is a zoo where tigers are treated to be simple and the zookeepers punish them if they misbehave. Additionally, this might effect their health and even sometime leads to death. So, this will effect on their entire population, this results in the extinction of some species.
Secondly, The animals naturally grow in their own enivironment rather then feeding them in zoos. Growning on their self will definitely learn skills to find their food, shelter and protect from other predators. Also the population will be grown steadily where they can breed and increase the reproduction of the young ones. Moreover, zoos just generate revenue using the animals. For example, once cheetahs were seen in india later they were kept in zoos and they have not survived in zoos, which kept for to generate income and it is going to be extinct. But now few cheetahs were imported from africa and released in jungle. This resulted in positive way, they became in double digits which are freely grown on themselves and increased their population.
In conclusion, i agree with the topic because the animals should be grown in their own habitat, they should not struggle in zoos to entertain for people. So, zoos should be closed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you agree that zoos should close, and you give relevant reasons about animal freedom, welfare, breeding and commercial use. The examples about tigers in Thailand and cheetahs in India help make the discussion more specific. The response addresses the question, but some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that animals in zoos are “always punished” and that this can cause extinction needs careful support, and the cheetah example would be stronger with clearer explanation of how it demonstrates that zoos should close rather than improve. To develop the argument further, explain the consequences of each example and acknowledge or answer a possible counterargument, such as zoos’ role in conservation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Additionally,” and “Moreover” help readers follow the main points. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, and several ideas are joined in long sentences. For example, the opening sentence combines the claim about animal habitats with the conclusion about closing zoos, while “So, this will effect on their entire population” does not clearly identify what “this” refers to. Group related claims more tightly, use pronouns with clear references, and make the link between each example and its paragraph’s main idea explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “habitat,” “ecosystem,” “predators,” “extinction,” and “population,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “generate revenue” and “reproduction.” However, inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make meaning less clear: “helath issues,” “insturcted,” “enivironment,” and “grown on their self” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “treated to be simple” and “increase the reproduction of the young ones.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, for example “live independently,” “breed in the wild,” and “increase their numbers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “where,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors occur across sentence structures and verb forms, and they sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “animals should not kept” (missing a passive verb form), “animals kept in zoo” (article and number), and “they have not survived in zoos, which kept for to generate income” (unclear clause structure and verb form). There are also run-on sentences, such as the opening sentence, and inconsistent capitalisation after full stops. Practise accurate passive constructions and sentence boundaries, then proofread for articles, agreement and tense consistency.
