Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You introduce the topic and indicate a mixed position with “I partial agree and disagree,” then begin one relevant point about animals being harmed when captured. However, the response does not clearly answer whether zoos should be closed, and the position is not explained. The example about animals becoming extinct is too brief and unclear to support the claim, and the second body point is left unfinished after “Secondly,”. The response also contains only 65 words, so it falls substantially short of the required 250; as a result, the task is addressed only minimally and the main ideas are not developed. State your position directly, give reasons on both sides if you partly agree, and explain each reason with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces opposing views, and “Firstly” signals the start of a supporting point. This gives the reader a small amount of direction. However, the overall progression is incomplete: the first point is not explained, “Secondly” has no continuation, and there is no conclusion to bring the argument together. The contrast between “Many people” and “others” is also not followed by a clear explanation of your own view. Develop a complete paragraph for each main idea, use linking phrases to show how examples support claims, and finish with a concise conclusion that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “animals,” “zoos,” “environment,” and “extinct,” and phrases such as “in order to catch them” show an attempt to express a cause. However, the range is narrow and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less clear, such as “zoo keeper” and “hurt down.” “Animals being extent” appears to be an attempt to say that animals are becoming extinct, but the wording is inaccurate. Build a more precise set of expressions for the topic, such as “wildlife conservation,” “capture animals from the wild,” and “endangered species.” Check spelling and choose collocations that express your intended meaning clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes a few simple sentence patterns and an attempt at a complex sentence with “because,” so there is some ability to connect ideas. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. Examples include “I partial agree,” where the adverb form is needed, “keeping animals in zoo,” which lacks an appropriate article or plural, and “most of animals being extent,” which does not form a complete, accurate clause. Capitalisation and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly after “Firstly.” Practise building complete subject–verb sentences, checking articles and verb forms, and punctuating each sentence clearly. A wider range of accurate sentence structures would make your argument easier to follow.
