Student answer (Band 5.5)
As the need of zoos is decreasing day by day because citizens like to have animal at home. They can spend more time with animals and they not need to go to any zoo. However,i disagree with this view that zoos should be kept close. There are few reasons behind this.
To begin with, families think any animal could be keep at home but this could be dangrous for them.Animals without any protection can harm family members. For instance, animals such as lions, cheetah and snakes are not pet animals. These kind of animals should be only placed in special places where they could be cared well and also humans could be safe from them. So,zoos are the best place for these animals. Moreover, kids can enjoy more at zoo instead of home. This is the safe and best way for educatiing them.
Furthermore, zoos keep animal in safe environment as well, where they properly treated with better cure. The managment of the zoo know well about the animals beacuse they have trained worker and also provide good facilties to the animals. The staff of zoo also contain specialized doctor which provide best treatment in any emergency situation. On the other hand, pet owners can not care well of animal as the professionals do.For exmaple,if any family keep a dog at home but do not know about the diet of dog. This could cause serious problem, which can lead to illness of dog. This is not best way to treat them ,in fact they can also damage to famaily members due to hunger.
To sum up,due to this i disagree with this statement and consider that animal should be placed only in zoos for entertainment purposes. So,families can go with their children to spend good time with them, which is also a source of eduction for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons, including public safety, children’s learning, and professional animal care. Examples such as keeping lions and snakes in specialist settings help explain your argument. However, the response does not fully address the central claim that society no longer needs animals kept in zoos: the opening mentions people keeping animals at home, but this point is not examined or directly challenged. Some ideas are also asserted rather than developed—for example, that zoos are “the best place” and that children learn there, without explaining what they learn or how zoos support conservation. Develop these points with specific evidence and acknowledge the limits of your claims to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with separate reasons, and a concluding statement. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “To sum up” make the progression easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical, and the opening moves from declining demand for zoos to keeping animals at home without clearly showing how that relates to the question. Within the second body paragraph, animal welfare, veterinary care, and the dog example are connected, but the example’s relevance to zoos could be made more explicit. Use clearer topic sentences and refer back to the main argument at the end of each paragraph. This would make the relationships between claims and examples more consistently clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “protection,” “specialized doctor,” “professionals,” and “emergency situation.” There are also attempts to express specific concepts such as animal care and safety. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural. For example, “kept close” does not express the intended idea of closing zoos, while “better cure” and “good facilities to the animals” are awkward. Spelling errors such as “dangrous,” “managment,” and “eduction” are noticeable. Build a more precise vocabulary for animal welfare, conservation, and education, and check spelling and common word combinations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “where,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some sentences show useful control, such as “This could cause serious problem, which can lead to illness of dog.” However, errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation recur. For example, “they not need to go” needs an auxiliary, and “animals … are not pet animals” is followed by the ungrammatical “These kind of animals.” Several sentences also run together after full stops, and capitalisation is inconsistent. Practise accurate sentence boundaries and review subject–verb agreement, articles, and auxiliary verbs. More reliable control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts clearer.
