Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is contended by people that zoos are useless as they are not providing any significant benefits to society. They should be shut down. I strongly disagree with this statement. Because they are really benificial for educational purposes as well as conservation of indangered species.
There are multiple reasons which show the importance of zoos. Initially, they are really essential for educational purposes. Children can learn through practical experince. When they visit zoo and see different animals while doing different activities, they will learn more effectively. For instance, kids see animals in their books, teachers and parents tell them about the specilities of various zoo species such as elephants, deers, lions etc. But when they visit the zoo and observe those animals they will definately learn more effectively.
Zoos are really crucial for the conservation of endangered species. There are alot of animal which are in danger of extinction due less number of zoos. If the remaining zoos will shut down then these animals will extinct. As most of the species lost their natural habitat due to pollution, they preserve in zoos. The animals such as Amur leopard and panda ets are preserve in zoos and if zoos will closed they will extinct.
To sum up zoos are essential part of our environment and i disagree with the statement that they are no longer need to have animal kept in zoos. Zoos are benificial for educational purposes because children can practically observe different species by visiting zoos. They are significant for preservation of endangered animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly disagree with closing zoos, and you give two relevant reasons—education and the protection of endangered species. The examples of children observing animals and species such as the Amur leopard and panda help make the response relevant. However, the two reasons are not developed equally: the education point explains how visits may help children learn, while the conservation argument relies mainly on the broad claim that animals would become extinct if zoos closed. Explain more specifically how zoos support breeding, research, or habitat protection, and acknowledge or answer a concern about animal welfare. This would make the support more convincing and ensure the ideas are developed more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for education and conservation, and a conclusion that restates your position. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “Initially,” “For instance,” and “To sum up.” At times, however, the links feel mechanical, and some ideas repeat rather than progress—for example, the conclusion repeats both reasons almost exactly as they appeared in the body. The reference in “they preserve in zoos” is also unclear: it is not immediately evident whether “they” refers to animals or species. Use more varied transitions, make references explicit, and use the conclusion to synthesise the argument rather than repeat it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “educational purposes,” “conservation,” “endangered species,” and “natural habitat,” so the reader can understand your main points. There are also attempts at more specific terms, such as “Amur leopard.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “benificial,” “indangered,” “experince,” and “specilities.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “less number of zoos” and “animals will extinct.” Aim to use accurate collocations and vary repeated words such as “really” and “learn more effectively.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise expressions would make your vocabulary more controlled and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “Because” and a conditional structure in “If the remaining zoos will shut down.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but control is uneven, and some sentence patterns are faulty. For example, “Because they are really beneficial…” is a sentence fragment, while “If the remaining zoos will shut down” needs a present-tense form in the conditional clause. There are also errors in agreement and articles, as in “There are a lot of animal” and “Zoos are essential part.” Practise complete sentence construction, conditional forms, and singular/plural agreement, then check punctuation and sentence boundaries. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the response.
