Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, In some countries the government confined the animals in the cages at zoo, so the people believe that we did not need zoos and the zoos should be shut down.
I completely disagree with this beliefs that the zoos should be closed beacuse there is a lot of people working in the zoos who finance there families, moreover academically there is a lot of oppurtunities for the researchers to research on different species at the same site.
If we take a look on the individuals who work in the zoo, they take there salaries from the government and financialy support there families, so if the zoo closed so there a lot of workers in the zoo who work there finanace will be vanished and then they have nothing to back there families, moreover they have experience as a zoo keeper, so if all zoos will closed so they will face extreme financial and job hunting problems. For example if there is 10 workers in the zoo and the zoo closes there operation so the 10 families will suffer in financial difficulties.
Now if we talk about reasearchers who want to research on different animals and there different species, and the zoos are closed so it is difficult to find different animals and there species in one place. But when there is a zoo so it is easier to find different animals and there species under one roof so they can access the animals and take there data from them.
In conclusion, i support those countries who confine the animals in zoo because the zoo workers support there families while the researchers can research and collect the data more easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give two reasons—employment for zoo workers and research access to animals. These points are relevant, and the example of ten workers’ families gives one idea some support. However, the response addresses the central issue only partially because it does not engage with the main concern in the prompt: whether keeping animals in captivity is still necessary or ethical. The employment argument is also repeated rather than extended, and the research point needs a specific example or explanation of how zoos contribute to useful research. To strengthen the response, address animal welfare directly and develop each reason with clearer evidence and explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the first body paragraph repeats the idea that workers support their families, while the second largely restates that animals are easier to access in zoos. Linking expressions such as “moreover” and “so” are used repeatedly, sometimes where a clearer relationship between ideas is needed. References such as “there” and “they” can also make it harder to identify whose families or data are meant. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it without repeating the same point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “researchers,” “species,” “zoo keeper,” and “financial difficulties,” so the reader can understand the main subject and reasons. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “different animals,” “families,” and “research.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “beacuse,” “oppurtunities,” “financialy,” and “reasearchers,” as well as inaccurate word choices and collocations such as “take their salaries” and “their work finance.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Build a more precise vocabulary for animal welfare, conservation, employment, and scientific study, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses beginning with “if” and “when,” but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “if the zoo closed so there a lot of workers” has an incomplete clause and incorrect verb structure; “if all zoos will closed” also uses an incorrect conditional form. Subject–verb agreement and sentence construction are inconsistent, as in “the zoo closes there operation,” and several sentences join multiple ideas without clear punctuation. These problems can make the reader pause to work out the meaning. Practise forming accurate conditional sentences and use shorter, controlled sentences before combining ideas with subordinate clauses.
