Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people think that there is no need to keep animals in zoos and cages, that's why zoos should be closed. I am partially agree with this idea. Because keeping animals in zoos have certain advantages to know about animals and for research purpose and to save some endangered animals, while there are also some drawbacks for keeping them in zoos, as they have freedom to move.
One of the main reason to keep animals in zoos is that if we let them free in jungles and in their habitat will be dangrous to some extent and some rare species are close to extinct and becoming endangered. If we let them free and let them in forests and free habitat, they would be in danger. For instance, most people are likey to hunt some rare species, therefore thay could be lesser in number and becoming an endangered species such as Markhore, white tiger, gorillas and some other wild animals.
Another reason to keep wild animals in zoos is that they could be dangerous for people who lived forests. If we let them free, they may be a danger to people near jungle. For example, thay may come in villages and harm people. Therefore wild animals should kept in zoos.
One reason to let them free and allow them to live in forests is that thay can live freely and can increase their population but there should be some safefty measures for nearby population.
In conculsion, there be some policies and safety measures. If animals would live free in forests and jungles, then should some safe policies and government should take proper step and make villages safe. Also implementation tmake a boarder line

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a relevant, partly balanced response: you support keeping some animals in zoos for conservation and research, while recognising that animals should be able to live freely. Examples such as endangered species and possible risks to nearby villages help illustrate your points. However, your position is not consistently clear. You say you “partially agree,” but the conclusion shifts towards animals living freely without clearly stating whether zoos should close or explaining which animals should remain in them. Several claims, including that animals would be safer in zoos and that people might hunt them in the wild, need fuller explanation or support. Develop the balance between conservation benefits and animal welfare, then give a direct, consistent answer to the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons, and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally focus on relevant points, and linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the argument. However, progression is limited because the ideas are not clearly connected into a developing argument: the final paragraph introduces safety policies and a boundary without explaining how these resolve the conflict between zoos and freedom in the wild. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical, particularly repeated “If we let them free” constructions. Make each paragraph’s main point explicit, connect examples directly to that point, and ensure the conclusion follows from the position established in the introduction.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “endangered,” “rare species,” “habitat,” and “safety measures.” These terms show awareness of the subject, but the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, such as “let them free” and “in forests and jungles.” Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “close to extinct,” “dangerous for people who lived forests,” and “implementation tmake a boarder line.” Spelling errors such as “dangrous,” “likey,” and “conculsion” also reduce accuracy and can make parts difficult to understand. Build a more precise range for discussing conservation and animal welfare, and check spelling and natural word combinations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional forms such as “If we let them free, they may be a danger to people near jungle.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “I am partially agree,” “keeping animals in zoos have,” and “wild animals should kept,” which show problems with verb forms and agreement. The opening also joins two independent clauses with a comma, while the final sentence is incomplete and difficult to interpret. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb patterns, and conditional sentence construction. Shorter, complete sentences would help you express your ideas clearly while you build control of more varied structures.
