Student answer (Band 5.5)

We are kepting wild animals in the zoo for decades and it is impacting the animals life a lot. Is there is any need to keep those animals in the zoo in these days? From my perspective I don't think there is any need to keep those animals in the zoo.

In ancient times people kept the wild animals in the cage and at a specific place which is called zoo. Wild animals were in large number. It was for the people to saw how these animals look like what they eat and how they lived there lives. The zoo employees put the slide or baord on the cages where they wrote the history of the animals or any thing informative about the animals.People came to the zoo to had information about those animals. For instance, how the crocodiles look like, what they ate, where they live etc.

In todays time different countries are introducing safari parks for animals where they are not keeping them in the cage. The wild animals are living freely. People go to the safari parks to see different animals. These animals are not keeping in the cages so there are instructors with them to provide relevant infromation about safety measures. The instuctors go to the park with the visitors. If people want to know about animals and want to see them they can go to the safari parks. For instance, in Australia there are people who are taking initiative for making these parks.

In conclusion, there is no need for zoos these days because there are safari parks. There are some countries in which safari parks are not introduce yet,so government should invest in making these parks. It is crucial for the animals to live where they belong. In the end living in zoo are effecting the mind of the wild

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you disagree with keeping animals in traditional zoos and support replacing them with safari parks. You give relevant reasons, including that animals should live freely and that visitors can still learn about them, and you include an example referring to Australia. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The historical explanation of why zoos were created takes up considerable space, while the claimed benefits of safari parks and the harm caused by zoos are not explained in much detail. The conclusion also introduces the idea that governments should invest in parks without developing this proposal. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how safari parks protect animal welfare and address practical concerns such as safety and conservation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally move from the purpose of traditional zoos to safari parks as an alternative, and phrases such as “For instance” help introduce examples. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph shifts into a long account of what visitors learned in the past, which does not clearly advance the argument, and the final sentence is incomplete, leaving the conclusion without a clear ending. Some references, such as “these animals,” are repeated without adding much cohesion. Organise each body paragraph around one main reason, use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure the conclusion finishes the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “wild animals,” “cage,” “safari parks,” “instructors” and “safety measures,” so the main ideas are usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the writing less natural. Examples include “kepting,” “baord,” “infromation” and “instuctors,” as well as “put the slide” where “displayed signs” would be more appropriate. Phrases such as “in these days” and “taking initiative for making these parks” also sound unnatural. Build a wider set of accurate topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully; this will make your argument clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “a specific place which is called zoo” and a conditional structure in “If people want to know about animals…”. However, control is inconsistent, particularly with verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “People came to the zoo to had information” should use an infinitive after “to,” while “these animals are not keeping in the cages” needs a passive form. The opening question, “Is there is any need,” also has an incorrect structure, and the final sentence, “living in zoo are effecting the mind,” is grammatically incomplete. Practise accurate passive constructions and verb patterns, and proofread each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
