Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the data. However, the overview is poorly constructed; it is vague and fails to highlight the most significant trends, such as the decline in households with dependent children or the rise in lone-parent households. The report is essentially a list of figures rather than a summary of trends. To improve, you should group data logically and focus on comparing the categories rather than listing every data point for every year, which makes the response repetitive and lacks analytical depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The second paragraph is not a proper overview, and the subsequent paragraphs are just lists of statistics. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; the transition between sentences is often abrupt. Phrases like 'on the other hand' are used incorrectly to introduce simple lists of data rather than contrasting ideas. The progression of information is mechanical, and the lack of clear logical flow makes the report difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic structures like 'are' and 'percent'. There are several errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'The Chat illustrates' (should be 'The table illustrates') and 'remain same with 25% as usual same as before', which is redundant and unnatural. There is no attempt to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'experienced a downward trend'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('six percents people are'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures. The use of punctuation is inconsistent, and many sentences are simple or poorly constructed. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits your ability to express relationships between the data points. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for errors in tense and pluralization.
