Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides a clear overview and selects key features from the data. However, there are significant factual errors regarding the years cited (e.g., stating 1971 twice for different data points) and some confusion in the reporting of figures. While the main trends are identified, the accuracy of the data presentation is compromised by these errors, which impacts the overall clarity of the report. To improve, ensure that the years and percentages match the source material precisely and avoid repetitive or contradictory statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'It is clear from the data', and 'Now, turning to details' are used to guide the reader. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the flow is occasionally interrupted by the factual inaccuracies mentioned in the task achievement section. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with attempts to use descriptive verbs like 'fluctuated', 'declined', and 'increased'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'represented to 19%' and 'experienced for the highest proportion'. Spelling errors like 'wiht' and 'fluactuated' also occur. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations correctly (e.g., 'accounted for' instead of 'represented for') and ensure precise usage of reporting verbs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect preposition usage ('reached at 25%'), subject-verb agreement problems, and tense inconsistencies. For example, 'considerably declined' lacks a subject, and 'the end of the year' is an incorrect reference to the timeline. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is noticeable and occasionally impedes the flow of the text. More attention to basic sentence construction and proofreading is required.
