Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Because the response is only 106 words, the analysis is incomplete. While you have identified some main features, such as the decline in couples with dependent children, you have omitted several categories from the table (e.g., lone parents, one-person households) and failed to provide a comprehensive summary. To improve, you must ensure all data categories are addressed and the response length meets the minimum requirement to allow for a full development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of sufficient content. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'While', but the transitions between sentences feel somewhat mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate for the length, but the overall structure is underdeveloped due to the missing information. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect your comparisons more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks the precision required for higher bands. Phrases like 'was accounted for largest proportion' and 'the figure for non-dependent children was remained stable' contain grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your lexical choices. You should aim to use more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'constituted the largest proportion' or 'remained relatively stable'. Expanding your range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'experienced a marginal fluctuation', would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

There are several grammatical errors that impede the flow of the text. For example, 'one person in family and a couple with no children, lone parent were noted throughout the period increased' is syntactically confusing. Additionally, 'the figure for non-dependent children was remained stable' is incorrect; it should be 'remained stable'. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and your attempts at more complex structures often contain errors in verb tense or passive voice construction. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice for data reporting will help improve your accuracy.
