Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the table, such as the trends for dependent children and one-person households. However, the analysis is hampered by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For example, you state that 'one family household and couple remain zero', which is factually incorrect based on the provided data. Additionally, the description of the trends is sometimes confusing, such as the claim that independent children decreased by 2% in the 'last two years', which is not supported by the data. To improve, ensure you carefully read the table figures and focus on reporting the most significant changes rather than listing every minor fluctuation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'Moving ahead', and 'while', the connection between sentences is sometimes mechanical or confusing. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the data. To improve, focus on using cohesive devices to link ideas more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports the overall summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is limited and includes several errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'At the fleeting a glance' and 'calibrated in percentage' are unnatural and do not fit the academic style required for Task 1. There are also issues with basic terminology, such as referring to the table as a 'table chart'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a downward trend', and avoid repetitive or non-standard phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('one person live'), missing articles, and punctuation errors. For instance, 'which will steadily rise reached at 12%' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. The sentence structure is often fragmented, which affects the overall readability. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles. Proofreading for basic sentence construction will help reduce the frequency of these errors.
