Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to address the task but fails to accurately interpret the data. The overview is factually incorrect, stating there were 'zero couples' until 2007, which contradicts the provided table. Furthermore, the description of trends is vague and confusing, using terms like 'fleeding' and 'peck' (likely meaning 'peak') without clear reference to the actual figures. The summary lacks a clear comparison of the data points, and the reporting of trends is disjointed. To improve, you must focus on accurately identifying the key features, such as the significant increase in one-person households and the decline in households with dependent children, while ensuring your overview reflects the actual data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However', they are often used to introduce points that are not clearly explained or linked to the data. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between different household types. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related ideas, leading to a disjointed reading experience. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your cohesive devices are used to connect ideas logically rather than just acting as list markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors and word-choice inaccuracies that impede communication. Examples include 'knowlage' (knowledge), 'catagerise' (categories), 'splited' (split), 'considerablly' (considerable), and 'fleeding' (likely a misuse of 'fluctuating'). The use of 'peck' instead of 'peak' and the awkward phrasing 'in one family household dependent children is at highest rate' demonstrate a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words correctly in context, avoiding informal or non-existent terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('there was various catagerise', 'there was also present a lone parents'), incorrect tense usage, and missing articles. Many sentences are poorly constructed, making the meaning difficult to grasp. For example, 'There was shown that in one family household dependent children is at highest rate' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for a higher score.
