Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. The statement that 'dependent children' had the highest ratio is factually incorrect based on the provided table, and the description of trends is often confusing or inaccurate (e.g., the claim that there was a 'sharply decrease' of 16% in dependent children is not clearly supported by the data). The report lacks a logical selection of key features, and the comparisons are often difficult to follow. To improve, ensure you accurately identify the highest and lowest points and describe the trends with precision, focusing on the most significant changes over the period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Moreover', 'In addition', 'Moving ahead'), they are often used mechanically or inappropriately, which hinders the flow. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparisons between years. To improve, focus on using transition words that logically connect the data points rather than just listing them. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping categories by their trends (increasing vs. decreasing).

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and contains several inaccuracies that occasionally impede meaning. Phrases like 'calibrated into percentage', 'some extinct', and 'highest ratio was covered by' are unnatural and imprecise. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive language. To reach a higher band, you should work on using more precise collocations for describing data, such as 'accounted for', 'experienced a decline', or 'remained stable'. Avoid using overly informal or vague phrasing like 'crystal clear' or 'fleeting glance' in an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with article usage ('the highest ratio', 'the similar percentile'), subject-verb agreement ('6 percent... was under'), and sentence structure ('sharply decrease in percentage... that was by 16%'). The range of structures is limited, and attempts at complex sentences often result in errors. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past data. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect prepositions will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
