Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some main features, such as the decline in couples with dependent children, the response is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. Because the summary is unfinished, you have failed to report on all categories or provide a comprehensive overview of the data. To improve, you must ensure you cover all data points provided in the table and complete your analysis to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response shows a basic logical structure with an introduction and an overview. However, the abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the overall progression of the text. You have used some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'on the other hand' to link ideas, but the lack of completion prevents a coherent flow throughout the entire report. To achieve a higher score, ensure that your paragraphs are fully developed and that you use a wider range of cohesive devices to connect your comparisons more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, such as 'predominant', 'declining rate', and 'upward trend'. However, there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'transition of family types' and 'parents with established children'. The range is somewhat limited due to the brevity of the text. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', and ensure your word choices are consistently natural and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical issues, such as 'in across all the years' (redundant preposition) and 'single couple' (should be plural or specific). While the errors do not completely impede communication, the incomplete nature of the sentences at the end of the text makes it difficult to evaluate your control over complex structures fully. Focus on proofreading for minor errors and ensure that your sentence construction remains consistent throughout the entire response.
