Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response identifies some main features, but the reporting is inconsistent and lacks precision. While you attempt to highlight trends, the data interpretation is often inaccurate (e.g., stating 'one person household' was 6% in 1971 and climbed to 11% in 1991, which does not align with the provided table). Furthermore, the overview is somewhat confusing, as it describes trends as 'constant' when the data shows clear fluctuations. To improve, ensure you carefully extract the correct figures and focus on the most significant changes or comparisons rather than listing every data point, which can lead to inaccuracies.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'after that' and 'it was remained same'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, making it difficult to follow the comparison of data. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'it') clearly points back to the specific household type being discussed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'increased', 'decreased', and 'ratio'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'one person type of household was increased constant' and 'highest than other households'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the information. To improve, you should learn collocations related to data description, such as 'a steady increase' or 'a significant decline', and avoid using 'ratio' when referring to percentages or proportions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with verb tense consistency (e.g., 'was increased constant' instead of 'increased steadily') and passive voice construction. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'non-dependent household ratio was remained same'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of past tense verbs when describing historical data.
