Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to select and report main features, the data presentation is incomplete and lacks a comprehensive overview. Several key figures are missing or misstated, and the comparison between categories is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you cover all categories provided in the table across the three time periods and provide a more thorough analysis of the trends rather than just listing numbers. The under-length penalty is applied here as the response is 20 words short.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes misused, such as 'Moving onwards to remaining details' and 'To commence with'. The transition between ideas is abrupt, and the lack of clear referencing makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data over time. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic phrasing like 'the data is calibrated in numbers' and 'there was'. There is little attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe trends or changes (e.g., 'increase', 'decline', 'fluctuate'). To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise terminology related to data analysis, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'significant', or 'marginal', and avoid repeating the same sentence structures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there was maximum dependent children') and article usage. The sentence structures are simple and often lack the necessary complexity to demonstrate a good range. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the use of complex sentences to describe trends, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions.
