Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but struggles with accuracy and clarity. You have identified some trends, but the description of the data is often confusing or contradictory. For example, you state that 'couples remained same' and then later say they are 'not mentioned', which is confusing for the reader. Furthermore, the grouping of categories is inconsistent, and some figures are misquoted or unclear. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the different household types and provide accurate data points. You should also focus on selecting the most significant trends rather than listing every detail, which will help you provide a more coherent overview of the information provided in the table.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'in the year 1971' and 'in the year 2007'. Transitions between sentences are often mechanical or missing, making it difficult to follow the logic of your comparisons. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') to connect your ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as grouping increasing trends separately from decreasing ones.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'number', 'percentage', and 'change'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'maximize the number' (which is not the correct usage here) and 'Lone children' (which does not accurately describe the category). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'experienced a decline', or 'accounted for'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you convey the trends more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some households percentage is increasing'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence structures. Many sentences are simple, and attempts at more complex structures often result in errors. For example, 'One the other hand Non-dependent children is increasing 1%' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using prepositions correctly. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
