Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response provides a basic summary of the data, but it lacks a clear overview of the main trends. Instead of synthesising the information, the report reads like a list of figures, which is a mechanical approach. While you have selected some key features, you have not made meaningful comparisons between the categories. For instance, noting that 'dependent children' saw a significant decline while 'one person' households increased would have provided a better analytical overview. The inclusion of 'no data present about one family and couple' is unnecessary as it is not part of the provided table, and this indicates a misunderstanding of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is limited because the text relies heavily on listing data points rather than linking them logically. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as starting sentences with 'Firstly', 'Now', and 'And at last'. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, making the flow of the report feel disjointed and simplistic.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the word 'percentage' and 'type' throughout the text, which restricts the range of your writing. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or an attempt to use precise terminology related to data description (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'witnessed a downward trend'). Some word choices are awkward, such as 'highest in the any', which is grammatically incorrect and imprecise. To improve, you should focus on using a wider variety of verbs and nouns to describe trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'The illustration demonstrate' (subject-verb agreement error), 'in the any' (incorrect prepositional phrase), and '2001 and 2007 was 25 % respectfully' (incorrect word choice: 'respectively'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas like '11,%,'. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the writing from reaching a higher band score.
