Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some trends, the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. You have not provided sufficient data points to support your descriptions, and the overview is vague. To improve, ensure you include specific figures from the table to support your claims and provide a more comprehensive summary of the main trends. The conclusion provided is also somewhat informal and speculative rather than data-driven.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into very short, fragmented paragraphs. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas together, making the text feel like a list of isolated sentences rather than a cohesive report. The progression of information is disjointed, and the referencing is often unclear. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus that flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'innitial', 'house hold', 'childern', and 'percentgae', which detract from the quality of the writing. The phrasing is often simplistic, such as 'made less babies', which is inappropriate for an academic report. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline', and ensure you proofread your work to correct basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('This chart show', 'house without children are less'), incorrect verb tenses ('people like to lived'), and awkward sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent when describing past data. Practice combining simple sentences into more complex ones using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions.
