Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is incomplete as it cuts off abruptly after introducing the third category, failing to provide a summary or cover all data points. While the student attempts to report figures for the first two categories, the description is repetitive and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. The focus is overly narrow, listing data chronologically rather than synthesizing information or making meaningful comparisons between household types. To improve, you must ensure the entire task is completed and include an overview paragraph that highlights the most significant changes or trends across the entire period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. There is no introduction or overview, and the body paragraphs are poorly organized, focusing on a mechanical listing of data rather than grouping information logically. Cohesive devices are used repetitively (e.g., 'whereas' is used excessively and often incorrectly). The lack of a conclusion or a cohesive summary makes the text difficult to follow. Paragraphing is also problematic, as the text is fragmented and ends mid-sentence. To improve, use clear topic sentences and a variety of linking words to connect ideas rather than just listing numbers.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'the count comes out to be' and 'the count remains constant' are used repeatedly, which hinders the flow of the report. There is little attempt to use academic or precise vocabulary to describe trends (e.g., 'increased', 'fluctuated', 'remained stable'). Spelling errors such as 'increament' and 'indivuals' are present. To improve, focus on learning synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' and practice using more precise terminology for data reporting, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', or 'figure'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response relies on simple sentence structures and contains frequent grammatical errors. There are issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency, such as 'the count increases' when describing past data. Punctuation is also weak, with many run-on sentences and a lack of proper capitalization for proper nouns like 'Britain'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple statements. To improve, practice using complex sentences with subordinate clauses and ensure consistent use of past tenses when describing historical data.
