Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify key trends, such as the decline in households with dependent children and the rise in lone-parent households, the reporting of figures is occasionally inaccurate or confusing (e.g., mentioning 2021, which is outside the provided data range). The overview is present but lacks clarity, and the comparison between categories is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you focus strictly on the provided data and provide a more cohesive summary of the trends rather than listing individual data points in isolation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. Phrases like 'on the other hand' and 'for the' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is often disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas feels like a list of observations rather than a synthesized report. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'household type' and 'increase/decrease' throughout the text. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'beggining' and 'deferences' (instead of differences). The use of 'alot' is too informal for an academic task. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of synonyms and more precise vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'household types changes', 'lone parent take off') and article usage (e.g., 'the lone parent', 'the Dependent childrens'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods in the middle of phrases. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would help improve your accuracy.
