Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you attempt to identify some trends, the analysis is fragmented and lacks a clear overview of the main features. You list data points (e.g., '6-8-11-12-12') rather than synthesising the information into a coherent report. The description of trends is often unclear or inaccurate, such as the confusion regarding 'consent' (likely meant 'constant') and the incomplete sentence structure at the end of the first paragraph. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and providing a clear summary of the most significant changes over the period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks logical progression. The ideas are presented in a disjointed manner, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences or ideas, and the paragraphing is ineffective, with the 'Summary' section merely repeating points already mentioned. The referencing is often unclear, as seen in the phrase 'it's deceased not consent like other', which makes the relationship between the data points confusing. Improving the use of linking words such as 'however', 'consequently', and 'in contrast' would help create a more logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'persentage' instead of 'percentage', 'deceased' instead of 'decreased', and 'concent' instead of 'constant'. These errors occasionally impede communication, as the reader must guess the intended meaning. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately; for example, you rely on basic terms like 'increase' and 'decrease' without using more precise academic language like 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a downward trend'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure meaning. Sentence structures are simple and often incomplete, such as 'In 1917 are high percentage of dependent children then it's deceased'. There is a lack of control over basic verb tenses and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The table show', 'every types of household changed'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, which further disrupts the readability of the text. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on constructing complete, grammatically correct sentences and using a wider variety of structures, including complex sentences.
