Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task well. You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant comparisons, such as noting that dependent children remained the highest category despite a significant decrease. The overview is clear and highlights the key shifts in the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed; for example, you mentioned 'No children' reached 25% in 2007, but the chart shows 25% in 2001 and 2007, and your description of the 'Single person' category could be more precise regarding the 2001-2007 period. Overall, the information is well-selected and logically presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'while', and 'in the beginning', which help link your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the transition between sentences is smoother. For instance, the final sentence about non-dependent children feels slightly disconnected from the previous one. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'fluctuation', and 'significant incline'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, you wrote 'considerable drew' instead of 'considerable drop' or 'decline', and 'No children experienced the similar trend' should be 'experienced a similar trend'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'Single person showed a dramatic rise' (missing an article: 'The single person category') and 'reached to 12%' (the verb 'reach' does not take the preposition 'to'). Additionally, there are some issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on proofreading for small grammatical slips will help improve your accuracy.
