Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to accurately interpret the provided table. Several claims are factually incorrect based on the image, such as stating that 'one-family household and couple shows no contribution,' when these categories are clearly present. The description of trends is often confusing or inaccurate, such as the claim that dependent children 'consume 50% of the total rate.' The overview is weak and lacks a clear summary of the most significant trends. To improve, focus on identifying the most prominent changes and ensuring that the data reported matches the visual information provided in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. The paragraphs are poorly organized, and the progression of ideas is disjointed. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'Overall,' 'Then it came'), they are often used mechanically or inappropriately. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data points. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, overview, and specific data comparisons, and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'consume 50% of the total rate' and 'goes increasing.' The phrasing is often unnatural, which hinders the clarity of the report. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately (e.g., using 'increasing' or 'decreasing' repeatedly without variation). To improve, learn specific collocations for describing data, such as 'a significant rise,' 'a gradual decline,' or 'remained stable.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('one person household and lone parent are,' 'couple shows'), article usage ('in the table'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which makes the text difficult to read. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the existing simple sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practice using a wider variety of complex structures like relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions.
