Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your summary. However, the response is essentially a list of statistics rather than a cohesive analytical report. You have included all the necessary data, but the organization is somewhat repetitive, focusing on listing percentages year by year rather than synthesizing the information into clear trends (e.g., the decline of dependent children households vs. the rise of one-person households). To reach a higher band, you should group the data more effectively to highlight the most significant changes and contrasts throughout the period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, but the internal flow is mechanical. You rely heavily on listing data points chronologically, which makes the progression feel repetitive. While you use some cohesive devices, they are often used in a formulaic way (e.g., 'In the year 1971', 'In the year 1981 to 1991'). There is a lack of variety in linking phrases, and the transition between the different household types could be smoother. Improving the use of referencing and substitution would help avoid the repetitive nature of the sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You frequently repeat words like 'percentage', 'ratio', and 'household'. There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'continuous changing' instead of 'continual change' or 'the highest number of proportion', which is redundant. To improve, try to use a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations to describe trends, such as 'a steady decline', 'a significant increase', or 'remained relatively stable'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, there are issues with article usage ('the higest proportion'), subject-verb agreement ('the percentage... was same'), and awkward phrasing ('the lowest ratio was 6% and 10%. as lone parent household respectively'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around periods and commas. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to limit your score in this criterion.
