PEOPLE IN HOUSEHOLDS BY TYPE OF HOUSEHOLD AND FAMILY
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given representation demonstrates the changes in different types of household located in Great Britain during the time period of 1971 to 2007.
To begin with couples with no children household, in year 1971 which were 19% which increased to 20% in 1981 and 23% in 1991, in year 2001 and 2007 the value remained same at 25%. Moreover, couple with non-dependent children household were at 10% for both 1971 and 1981, but in 1991 it increased to 11% and in next years it dropped at 9% and remained constant for both 2001 and 2007.
Moving further, one person and lone parent household were 4% and 6% in year 1971, respectively, which were expanded to 8% and 6% during the year 1981. While in 1991 one person household was at 11%, lone parent household was at 10%. Where as both households remained constant at 12% during 2001 to 2007.
Surprisingly, Couples with dependent children had the most percentage as compared to other households throughout the time period of 1971 to 2007 which were at 52% in year 1971, in year 1981 it was at 47% and in year 1991, 2001 and 2007 there was a downgrade seen at 41%, 39% and 36%, respectively.
Overall, only in couple with dependent and non-dependent children household a decrease was seen, whereas other house hold percentage increased.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your summary. You covered all categories mentioned in the table and made appropriate comparisons. However, the report is somewhat mechanical, relying heavily on listing figures year-by-year rather than synthesizing the data into broader trends. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping data more effectively and highlighting the most significant changes (e.g., the sharp decline in couples with dependent children versus the steady rise in one-person households) rather than detailing every single year for every category.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with clear paragraphing. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Moving further' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly repetitive or mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the data points, rather than simply listing them sequentially. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'remained constant', 'dropped', and 'expanded' effectively. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the value remained same' (should be 'the same') and 'downgrade seen' (which is not the most natural way to describe a statistical decrease). Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would help improve the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in year 1971' should be 'in the year 1971') and issues with subject-verb agreement ('couples with no children household' should be 'households of couples with no children'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences where better use of commas or conjunctions would improve clarity. These errors do not impede communication but occur frequently enough to limit the score.
