Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all key features of the data and provides a clear overview. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the decline in households with children and the rise in one-person households. However, the report is somewhat mechanical, relying heavily on listing data points rather than synthesising them into a more analytical narrative. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more fluid and that the 'main features' are highlighted more prominently in the overview. The data is accurate, but the presentation could be more sophisticated by grouping categories that share similar trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Moving further' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit repetitive or mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different household types, which helps the reader navigate the information effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'representation', 'remained constant', and 'downgrade'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'expanded to' when referring to percentages, which is not the most natural fit. Additionally, there is some repetition of basic verbs like 'increased' and 'remained'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms for change and stability to show greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent minor grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in year 1971') and issues with preposition usage ('in next years'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'Couples with no children household, in year 1971 which were 19%'. Improving your control over sentence structure and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help elevate your score. Punctuation is generally functional but could be more precise.
