Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data and makes relevant comparisons. You have identified the key trends, such as the decline in households with dependent children and the rise in single-person households. However, the overview is slightly confusing due to awkward phrasing like 'sub family circle types'. While you have selected the main features, the reporting is sometimes hindered by imprecise language, such as 'the duo of one-family menage', which makes the data interpretation less clear than it could be. To improve, ensure your overview clearly summarises the most significant trends without using overly complex or non-standard terminology.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for data, and a concluding summary. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or misused. For example, the transition 'Here, the individual carried...' is abrupt and does not clearly link to the previous paragraph. Additionally, the final paragraph is somewhat repetitive of the information already provided in the body. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward transition prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
There is an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, but there are several instances of unnatural word choice and incorrect collocations. Phrases such as 'one-family menage', 'dependent youngsters couple', and 'remained stir' are either non-standard or incorrect in this context. While you demonstrate an attempt to use a variety of terms, the inaccuracies occasionally impede the precision of your reporting. To improve, focus on using standard academic collocations and ensure that your vocabulary choices accurately reflect the data presented in the table.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the individual... increased'), awkward phrasing ('the couple with dependent mi family declining'), and incorrect preposition usage ('reached at 36%'). While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the data, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors in tense and article usage.
